I think the texture is what got me. The lemon cake isn't very good, kinda fake. PBC texture is fine. I just hate the price.

It is a painful price, I got it at Whole Foods last night for $5.99/pint. Ouch. I saw a ton of new flavors come out online but I can't find em anywhere.

However it's nice to keep in the fridge because if I do choose to binge at least it's on that chalky "ice cream" and not Ben and jerrys

Also I made Zoodles tonight and I just can't get behind em

Also I ate 2 hours ago and am starving because my meal was basically just shrimp and zucchini and a tbsp of olive oil sooooo it only clocked in at like 250 calories

My spiralizer is fun to use though

After mild-dieting since May I'm finally down to the lowest I've been in 6 years.

Unfortunately I'm too broke to buy new clothes and the only clothes I have from 6 years ago are some really expensive dress clothes that I bought for a few weddings and haven't felt comfortable giving away yet.

Now I either look like I'm dangerously sick because I'm wearing extra baggy clothing or I'm always inappropriately over dressed :crylaugh:

Goodwill, dude! I have a bunch of sweaters from there because they can be spendy. I'm waiting until I get to a more stable weight to buy anything nice.

I'll probably end up doing that. I'm worried I'll end up buying back some of my own clothes that I donated at the end of last year haha

i hope i can lose a few pounds soon. probably the most difficult time to decide this considering the holidays but i think it will be doable. I have a few weddings im attending and one im in. i dont want to feel so shitty about myself in every picture. i was on antibiotics for 9 months last year for an infection in my mouth from a root canal and it left my body, stomach and health feeling like shit . before it happened, i had lost 35 pounds just from eating and i was at my lowest weight but with my stomach constantly feeling unsettled, i started turning to simple foods to eat like potatoes, plain pasta etc etc. carbs, ya know. i lost the weight with one rule and it was great: eat as much whole, organic, unprocessed foods as possible. i made a lot of smoothie bowls and buddha bowls. i think i can stick with it, my stomach has felt exponentially better the last couple of months so im ready to take it head on.

Been avoiding this thread, but here we go.

I'm 26, was a lot slimmer when I was 18, but got a job at McDonald's and it was all downhill from there. I'm tall, so getting up to 202 pounds (at my heaviest) sucked. It was mainly just belly fat and facial fat etc. but it made some of my favourite clothes not fit as well as they should, and I lost heaps of self-confidence.

When I left McDonald's (age 21) and got a job when I was primarily on my feet a lot, that helped. I ate better, started to work out 2-3 times a week (not vigorously, mainly cardio and a little weights) and dropped down to about 180. I looked leaner and people noticed. Felt awesome.

Over the last few years I've slowly gained that weight back working office jobs. I'm always so tired after work and unmotivated to go to the gym, and I eat pretty crappy on weekends, and have beers with my friends a lot. I'm at roughly 202 again, and looking pudgy. I'm lucky in the sense that I seem to drop weight pretty easily if I focus and eat right, and exercise regularly. The pounds seemed to melt away back when I was 21, but maybe that was a metabolism thing.

Anyway, gonna get lean, and stay that way. Hoping to get down to roughly 175 to start, just to get rid of that surface fat. Gonna start small, just with morning workouts (before work) and better eating. My brother's a PT and he says it's as simple as 'calories in vs. calories out' is the main principle. Once you get over the initial slump of cravings, low motivation, etc. he said it's smooth sailing from there.

Went to the gym this morning, and cutting out meat a couple of days a week and having smaller portions to start with. Beer's gonna be the tough kicker. The weather's warming up in Melbourne and there are so many beer gardens here that it's ridiculous.

    Wish me luck!

I had a pretty similar situation to you that I talked about earlier in this thread. I'm 6'1" and for most of my life have been very skinny, about 180...my senior year of college I went off the rails and gained 36 pounds by just drinking 5-6 times a week and going to Taco Bell like crazy and eating other garbage 5 times a day. I lost that weight pretty quickly after graduating college by a) cutting out pop entirely b) cutting out fast food and c) going to the gym and doing light weights and running about 4 times a week.

I'm 31 now and am back to the point where my weight fluctuates between 185 and 195. I still drink quite a bit, mostly heavier beers too with higher calories but I only eat twice a day. Lunch and dinner and I try to eat grilled chicken for dinner as much as possible. I go to the gym 3 times a week and strictly just play 5 on 5 full court basketball for about an hour and 15 minutes each time there. It's a pretty intense workout actually. I go on my lunch break, which is perfect. Then I go back to my office and eat a salad with light dressing. As you said, It's hard to go to gym after work too because after a long day of work, I'm tired and I just want to go home, plus I'm married and have a 2-year-old so I try to get home from work asap.

Your brother is right through, it's really as simple as calories in vs calories out and having some gym/eating discipline.

Up five pounds :( I guess my doctor telling me I'm ahead of the curve in my last appointment caused me to slip up and stop being so careful.

No more of that. Back to shakes and chicken and no more low carb ice cream. Shame. I have worked hard not to get complacent, yet here I am. :/

I need to remember that I'm coming out of the "honeymoon period" of my surgery. I need to put in some hard work and actually go to the gym now, or nothing is going to happen.

Fuck the gym, man. I hate working out.

I find putting what's on my plate throughout the day harder than an hour in the gym. :(

Anyone using MyFitnessPal? I just started using it again after it falling out of habit a couple months ago and while it registers my steps from my iPhone it's not showing any as calories burned anymore as exercise. Anyone have this issue and know how to fix it?

Yeah it's good for searching stuff up and seeing all the nutritional values. I always end up using it for a few days then forgetting to though. So I deleted it.

    Thoughts on swimming?

Say like, 30-45 minutes of laps, once or twice a week? Mixed in with gym/exercise routine obviously.

    Beneficial?

Pretty sure swimming is one of the best exercises you can do.

Personal life has been insane the last several months and I've put about 20 pounds back on, ugh -- need to get my ass back into gear.

The best shape of my life was when I was swimming two miles, four days a week. Didn't really have to diet or do any other additional lifting. I was playing tennis for a few hours one day a week at the time, too.

If you've never swam (swum?) laps regularly before, 45 minutes is a decent one mile time to start with. I started with one mile, then bumped up to 1.5 when I got my mile under 30 minutes, then to 2 a little bit later.

Just be prepared to be HUNGRY.

I bought a new lap swimming suit on black friday. Once I get back from visiting family in Florida, I'm going to try to get back to that shape. I'm back up to 38 minute miles.

Coinciding with returning to that trip from Florida, I'm going to start Whole30 again and probably make the jump to two-a-days within a month.

Tennis is a hell of a workout too. Especially outside in the summer. I miss playing.

Same. I can get contacts as soon as I can afford the exam/prescription/cost and I'm so excited to begin playing again. It's been over two years.

Cool. Might smash out a swim tonight. Today's my food cheater too so I wouldn't mind making a dent in working off the burger and fries I just ate.

  25. Just joined a gym and used the rowing machine for the first time. Much more enjoyable than running or biking.

Also doing the whole30 again starting January 2. Just wish I had kept off the weight I lost the last time I did it.
