whoa, i never thought of that last one. thanks for mentioning. i've been doing side bends with plates but per usual, the cable machine would def be better all roads lead to the cable machine lmao
Ooh I forgot about side bends, I use dumbbells but yeah. I do those too. And yeah I hold the rope like I'm holding a baseball bat kinda like belly button height where you don't have to move your arms and just isolate the twisting at the waist. Those work great
I like those plank dumbbell pass through things. I get so bored doing just regular planks and when I'm bored I'm just thinking about how much I hate planks which makes it go by slower. So I like to do the dumbbell pass through things I also like to do the double leg stretch but holding a dumbbell while I'm doing them I like Pilates type exercises for my abs. When it's just isolating that muscle it's always very humbling and kicks my butt even without weights. But once I feel like I get the movement down I incorporate dumbbells into the movement however I can but not like a teeny tiny 2 lb. Dumbbell. I try to use at least 10 lb and go from there.
@Cody by far the best tool for abs/core, in my opinion, is the ab wheel. I do other stuff too, most things listed here, but hands down I think the ab wheel is the way to go. Super convenient, easy to add to any workout, and torches your abs without a lot of the fatigue/minor weird risks some of the other exercises can pose. Honestly, if you took five minutes at the end of your workouts to do some heavy bear-hug carries and then a single max-out ab wheel set, I think you'd have the best abs in the world in no time.
Just got one as well. Ended up getting this one. 10k purchases in the last month, 4.6 with 23k+ reviews. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RKW5H68/?tag=absolutepunk-20
Y’all are inspiring me to get my ab wheel out of storage. My wife and I just moved. My home office will be split with our home gym. Gonna keep the ab wheel out so it doesn’t get forgotten.
My fiancée and I have been going to some of the workout classes at LA Fitness that mix cardio with dumbbell stuff. Shit's tough Between that and the workout plan I've been doing, I've been in the gym almost every day for the last couple weeks.
Watch this and you should be good: (start slow and build up, don’t go crazy, you don’t need huge sets or anything, just slowly get better over time and you’ll be good, nothing wrong with doing minimal ROM to start and building up)
I got one of these, takes a lot more room than an adjustable, but I read a lot about the adjustable being a pain.
I like my adjustable dumbbells and it works for my small apartment but it's not great for switching weights quickly between sets. Which is usually fine since I want to rest between sets anyway. But sometimes I'm following along to a YouTube video or something and they go quick so I do have to pause and take a sec to switch over
Core Home Fitness adjustables are incredible. You can get them in there and swap to a new weight within 5 seconds or less. Mine go to 50, but I've outgrown them so I'm looking to upgrade in the future.
I'm having minor shoulder surgery on my AC Joint next week, which means no lifting for about 6 weeks. I don't have anywhere else to share this, but got a PR on my deadlift this morning as a send off. 3 x 315#
