It’s crazy how the little but consistent changes have me feeling better than a big workout. I’ve been trying to walk a mile on my walking pad and stretch for 10 min after I wake up and then I switched to a standing desk and try to stand for the majority of the day. My back has never felt better and I feel like I have more energy throughout the day starting with a walk?
I try to stand a lot throughout the day. I’ll sometimes have to edit a bunch at my desk but I’ll raise the desk and stand instead of in my chair. It’s been sunny here lately too so I’ve been going in runs outside more
I've been sick and keep dramatically going "my gains! Not my gains!!" Cause I feel like my muscles are withering away from being a sick lump on my couch the last several days
You're good, it takes several weeks to see any appreciable muscle loss. Like Daniel Tiger sings, "When you're sick, rest is best. REST IS BEST!"
Whenever I hit a slump or just feel burnt out from exercise I dial back my formal workouts to give myself a little more time to sleep, a little more time to go for walks, and a little more time to lengthen my post-workout stretching routine. I'm going on vacation the week after next for my kids' spring break and really looking forward to taking some time off from working out. I haven't done that for any significant amount of time in a couple years tbh
I’ve been having issues the last few weeks of feeling like I will throw up when exercising. I’ve never had this issue before and my routine has not changed at all. But a few minutes in I get that feeling in the throat that I need to vomit. Anyone else ever have this and was able to overcome it?
I get a lot of fitness content on my algorithm and like anything, some of its great and some sucks Hate when it's trying to be inspirational but it's like backhanded lol. Like "don't worry if you only have 45 minutes to spend at the gym, you can still get in a quick routine! You got this?" Like I'm sorry but ONLY?? That's a good sesh for me especially on a work night Or "you're not defined by one choice! I ate X for breakfast and yeah it's not great but I'll recover and everything is okay in moderation!" And then it's like a typical breakfast for me haha
The only fitness content I watch at this point is from this couple, Ben Carpenter (bddcarpenter) and Sohee Carpenter (soheefit), who mostly does myth/ragebait debunking and... gosh, they've got a lot on their hands as there's so much fear mongering mixed with all kinds of shaming (fatphobia etc.) and just plainly manipulative and negative beliefs shared by fitness influencers these days. Been following them for a while and they seem, idk... genuine and uplifting? They make sure to remain kind and non-judgemental and it's such a contrast to what I usually see on the internet, which is quite a sad realization in itself.
I don’t really watch any fitness influencers. I stay more in tune with health/wellness influencers for things like raw/whole food recipes to go with my workouts. I’ll occasionally look up new workouts on YouTube so I can change up my routine every few weeks. I’m not sure how it is with female fitness influencers, but there are so many male influencers that are unnatural that try to sell the idea you can look like them without PEDs. It’s shameful
My pet peeve with almost all strength videos is they don't give enough rest time between sets imo. I always have to pause to give myself more rest. I prefer lifting slowly but heavy if I can. Even if I'm just using bodyweight I need more than 20 seconds rest, people!!
Man idk why I’m like this but the gym has about two rows of 20 or so treadmills, this morning maybe 4 were being used and everyone was spread out. So I start my shit and some MFer comes and takes the one NEXT to me. So I immediately stop the machine and go to the next one lol, personally think it’s weird to snag the one next to someone if there’s an option to stay spread out. But I also hate when strangers are in my business
This happened to me yesterday but I didn’t leave. The guy ended up leaving after 5 minutes. I’m like what was the point
Does anyone take creatine? I have some from Costco and I have been taking it for a while. I don't know if it works and also it never truly dissolves so taking it sucks. I even have the micro kind which is supposed to dissolve easier. It probably doesn't even do anything because half the time there's still grit left over because it's like impossible to dissolve so I'm prob barely even ingesting it. Ugh. I don't think I'm gonna repurchase when it runs out
Try it in a warm drink. I put it in bone broth in the morning and I can’t even tell it’s there. As far as efficacy, it’s apparently very well researched on its benefits.
Yeah, along with things like caffeine, creatine is incredibly well studied across populations and demographics. It definitely has an effect, though it’s probably on the order of like a 5% boost—not something to stress about, but worth taking since it’s cheap and easy. Also shown to be helpful for brain health, which is nice.
Ugggh that makes it all the more annoying that it sucks at dissolving. I'd rather it be proven to not work so I can have more valid reasons to hate it lol
I mix it in a blender bottle with the metal ball whisk and amino acid powders inside of it as well, shaken up it blends like 95 percent of both powders otherwise when I make a shake I toss it in there and that usually dissolves/breaks it down as well
Had the confidence to try out a bench PR last night, something I rarely do since its risky. Managed to hit the coveted 315 on my first try, probably could've managed a few more lbs on the bar but Im so happy to finally hit this goal after years in the gym.
