Heavy Fruit is maybe my number 2 after It Hates You. My preferences rotate pretty often with them, with the exception of IHY being firmly rooted in the number one spot. One of the few bands where I love everything they've done fairly equally.
My friend and I were just talking about how pretty much none of the songs on that album sound like each other, but it flows so cohesively. They're so good at crafting full albums, not just a collection of songs.
One of the record stores I'm going to has both IHY and HF on wax. I'm not going for any of the RSD releases, so maybe I'll pick up one of those instead.
Something that I noticed when listening to IHY on vinyl is that songs like China White III and Mean Shadows that end with a fade out, don't fade out but instead you hear the band jamming for longer than you normally would.
I heard they were mastered special for vinyl, but man, I love the album and HATE fadeouts. Might be a done deal if that's legit.
Damn I'm jealous. I would kill for IHY on vinyl. Wonder if I can find a store here in the Bay Area that has it..
Suck Out the Poison is such a killer album. I wish it had been more well received back in the day. I remember when Mushroom River was released and every one accused them of sounding like Korn haha.
I wonder when the backers are receiving Few? We're supposed to get it at least a week prior to release..
Yeah if anything I hear some Deftones on that album in places. But for some reason hard rock = Korn and Nickelback for a lot of people.
I hear deftones most on Heavy Fruit, especially the last two songs, remind me of Diamond Eyes guitar-wise
I feel like HIL is the only other band that really writes heavy parts in the same vein as Deftones. Maybe Alice In Chains post-Staley.
Alright fellas, I bought Heavy Fruit and It Hates You for under $20 a pop for RSD. Do I use my $25 in amazon money to complete the collection and order Few with prime 2-day shipping to get it Friday, or get Low Teens because I neglected it for so long?
Low Teens rules, but I'm gonna vote for Few. Also, I just listened to a new interview with Schuylar and he confirmed that the songs Heavy Fruit and The Garden are continuations of the China White story.
So jealous you found It Hates You... damn you! Also, I would say Few even though I'm a little salty at the band for not sending digital copies prior to release like promised. Get Low Teens at a later time, I would say.
I've seen other copies of It Hates You around for maybe $25. If you really can't find it, I can always pick up a second one for you and ship it! As long as you don't mind paying for shipping and whatnot.
If you get desperate, just let me know! I'll pick it up if I see it cheap enough, but is there a price that you would think is too much?
