Listening to I Am Hollywood for the first time based on a friend's recommendation... I'm really digging this.
Saw them last night: 1. Set was even shorter than the one posted above, and they were the headlining band. 2. People are really, really into this band and it's spectacular. Sand sounded really thrashy live, it was awesome.
So stoked that the album drops this month. I wonder if we'll get another new song before then. I kind of hope we don't, so that the rest of the record will be a surprise.
I don't understand why they keep their sets so short. They barely play more than ten songs even when they headline.
I can live with the shorter setlists. My complaint is they always have bad sound when I see them here. You could barely even hear Schuyler Friday night. And the crowd usually isn't great. Still had a lot of fun, though. Pretty pleased with the songs they did play. Throw in Air Raid and another one or two from Heavy Fruit and it woulda been perfect.
How was the crowd Friday? crowd Saturday was decently big for the venue and everyone was super into it, lotta energy even for newer songs.
Meh. It was at a pretty small bar/club I'd never been to before. Decent amount of people there but the crowd was a lil sleepy until I Am Hollywood (of course). And I'm not a mosh guy so I didn't want that, but just at least give em at sustained applause and hoot n holler in between songs. It was decent, though. However, sounds like I would have enjoyed your experience more.
Yeah man, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it was pretty comparable to an ETID show in terms of crowd energy. Really surprised me.
He Is Legend - 'few' Review | Currently Streaming This review has me pumped. Sounds like we're in for a killer record.
Yea that review is straight hype. I'm so ready. Between this and mastodon, my riff craving should be satisfied for a while
I haven't listened to these guys since Hollywood came out (I probably gave Poison a shot but don't remember). Excited to hear the new album, nonetheless.
Going back and listening to SotP now is awesome. Needs a vinyl release, I'm gonna say it's my favorite of theirs.
Yeah Suck Out the Poison has some great shit. Dungeon Witch, Mushroom River, China 2, Serpent Sickness, Magnolia...I mean damn.
(((louds deserves a mention too. And that intro to Electronic Throat. Golides Torn Locks and Potbellied Goddess are also tops
That's a close second, just feels more uneven in that songs are either mindbendingly awesome or just pretty good. Primary Blues, Decisions, Mean Shadows, That's Nasty, and Fangs of course run things.
It really is a capsule of everything great about them. Heavy ass riffs, super catchy vocals, and Schuylar's storytelling are all on display.
