First listen, so far (up to Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris) not *everything* hits, but most of it does. There are maybe one or two songs I’m iffy on some parts but then there are other sections I adore or lines I’m very drawn to.
verses on creepin’ are good and I’m p sure that’s the one that has the “I was the other woman first” line which is probably like THE standout line on the record for me but the chorus is hard to really parse for me.
Just finished a first listen. Sugar on the Rim didn't really hit for me even if it's still a decent track, but otherwise, I loved the whole thing. This is a clear winner for me but I do think it could have been trimmed down just a little bit. It's incredible how many genres sound cohesive on here. Totally unexpected release and worth the rollout.
"Pure Love" is straight up unbelievably good, that shimmering little guitar in the right channel is hnnng
the last two songs are absolutely incredible, cannot understand how people are thinking this ends weak
“Crystal Clear” sounds exactly what being in love feels like. I was truly in tears listening to it the first time.
Creepin’ and Taken are the only 2 I’m not really into, but still on the whole this is fantastic. Cinnamon is still my overall favorite, R/L/V/I is my favorite from part 2, and Pure Love was the standout for me from one listen of part 3.
Imagine if she would've released the poppier stuff from III first and left the darker stuff from I till last. this album is pretty incredible either way.
