I can hear a Billie influence a little bit in this. She said yesterday that she's really inspired by Billie, so I don't think its too out of the realm of possibility. I really get Lorde vibes, though, with the way she uses her voice as an instrument in the background. Like Lorde's Yellow Flicker Beat or her earlier ep The Love Club
Just played this in front of my nearly-3 year old and she is now going round the house singing "hummus, hummus, hummus, hummus, hummus".
So I said I'd give this a shot after loving After Laughter... I really really really like this. It's dark, moody af, spacious, meaningful. Adding it to my most anticipated of 2020
I love how After Laughter juxtaposed such dark lyrics with such optimistic music; like a mental breakdown you can dance your way through. And with this, I love that it’s all just dark, like Hayley realized that it really is okay to just feel everything and not even pretend that things are okay when they’re not. It sounds like it was very cathartic for her to get this out of her system and that’s beautiful to me. So excited to hear more from this album.
I feel the mewithoutyou influences hard in this. I love it so much. Had it on repeat all night yesterday.
My six year old kid told on me when we got home from picking her up at school since she curses in the song. She typically loves all things Paramore (was also her first concert).
I made sure I was talking loudly to my wife over that line. And respect taking a 6year old to a Paramore show. Sounds like you're parenting the right way.
Yeah I had only listened to it once before so I wasn't quite sure where that line fell in the song otherwise the classic perfectly timed cough would've occurred. And she wasn't even 1 at the time... Paramore, HelloGoodbye and Metric in Austin, lawn seats with ear muffs for her. Fun times.
It'd be so rad to have a connected set of music videos for the entire album/EP that just perfectly flow together. Kind of like a musical. I would love if MCR did that too. Probably wouldn't make sense financially though
I have no idea what this full project will look like at this point and I think that's my favourite part.
