He's a coward and a weak person and you would absolutely destroy him lol I have no doubt If I could post up outside of every NFG show just to stare him down and remind him daily how we all know he's trash I would
Wow. Just listened to this on the way to work. I get a little Billie vibe and some Joy Williams in her inflections. Just observations. I love the song and it feels unique
I need to cut back on shows this year, but I've decided if/when she comes to Boston, I'm dropping whatever I need to be as close as possible. It might be my only show for the year, but it will be worth it!
So can someone educate me on exactly what Chad Gilbert did to her? It seems all the mainstream publications weld her depression together with a mix of stress, her ex-bandmate leaving the band and suing over royalties and the relationship with this guy. Within this thread though I can tell there's a more pointed anger directed at her ex. Some relationships are just toxic and shouldn't be and anyone settling down with someone they don't love will inevitably feel trapped, lonely and resentful. I'm happy she's doing better but was it a loveless relationship that went on way too long or is this guy a monster who abused her? I'm reading these posts but I feel like I'm out of the loop.
Haven't seen enough talk about how great it is in the second verse when the instrumentation drops right back. Those sparse guitar strokes are gorgeous.
Based on the language she had used in the past year or two regarding their relationship and based on the fact that their relationship began with him grooming her as a teenager while married to another woman, it paints a picture of him that is certainly not flattering. Factor in his own songs where he talks about her depression as a burden to him, murdering her next partner if she were ever to leave, and outright cheating on spouses, it’s apparent that he is... something.
This may be obvious but I love how the song starts with the rhythmic breathing/noises then an exhale.
