i can't imagine the "album" proper ending with Blood Bros. i'm gonna wait to see if she lists a preferred sequence or says "sequence it however the fuck you want"
Yeah, as weird as this it is, it feels like a very intentional attempt to give fans a new experience. Order the songs how you want, use the album art you want, name the album what you want. I could be wrong and I’m certainly not saying it’s “smart” but as long as the songs are available I don’t really care if she feels like taking a swing edit: I said this thinking “Ego” was just what fans were deciding to call it, but it seems like all of the journalism around is calling it that too. I didn’t poke around the website it streamed on enough to notice if that was the definitive name
i get that this supposed to be generating conversation and is purposely unconventional, but it's a little ridiculous to just put 17 songs out at once (that were likely intended to be some sort of body of work) and then not indicate a preferred listening order. i'm sure one will come eventually, but at a time where i think people are starting to circle back to listening to "albums" front to back in some very small capacity, this feels ridiculous.
my guess is she doesn't see this as an album but just a collection of songs/demos before Paramore drops next year, but I agree that this is torture for anyone with OCD lol
i mean unless she doesn't do a physical release or literally puts out 17 singles with no b-sides then there will be an order at some point. i think this has been a very fun week of listening, buzz, and speculation.
I decided to go against my usual rule of never read any Linkedin post but I decided to read the comments of Jack's post and wow was that a mistake. Linkedin is such a weird weird place.
I’ll just comb through the songs in the morning in whatever order they appear on Apple Music, I guess. Looking forward to it.
I haven't listened yet, but would the songs at the top of the playlist maybe be considered the most, wide reaching/radio friendly/poppy? I ask because usually these playlists are sequenced to have the biggest songs first so you can capture people for as long as possible. I wouldn't take it as any sort of suggested listening order, but rather the order she thinks would get people to keep listening to the playlist longest. It's why her collabs, Simmer and Dead Horse are next on the playlist, those are her top streaming songs
So I understand that genius is user submitted for the most part, but do we know if Hayley is able to edit metadata type things aside from lyrics? For example is she able to set the album title and track list order? Just curious if the order there is fully use submitted or if she tinkered with it
I went through a few (you can see the edit history for each song's page) and she edited the metadata for some, but not all.
They've all dropped over here. I respect this release strategy and kinda want it collected and formalised at the same time lol
All the lyrics entries for these songs are organized under "ED@ABP" so maybe .... That's the album name? Ego Death at a Bachelor Party?.... Ego for short
? It’s the list as ordered on her Spotify. What is incorrect? I literally stated a fact. There may not be an actual order but that’s how it’s listed
