It didn't even crack my top 15. I knew it would take a hit from the first month being all the singles, but now I'm thinking it must have also counted the different versions separately each time a song got added? Otherwise I'm baffled because it's far and away my most listened to this year according to last.fm, and should still be up there even without the first month or so of the singles only version.
odd that it didn't register the same way. i've added and deleted each new version from my library a good number of times and it still topped my list.
I do think Hayley has a bit of an outsized celebrity compared to actual engagement with her music. Lots of people seem to recognize her talent even if they are not super familiar with her music. Plus there was that period where Ain't It Fun was a massive radio hit
I don’t know why but as a solo artist she feels a bit like an underdog? All of my friends love Paramore and will listen to songs from all eras but seem to just not engage with the solo stuff at all. their loss imo
Same case over here but her solo material sees her explore a different, less accessible register at times tbf, her first album goes into art pop territory for example. All three didn't seem to be promoted like Paramore's ones usually do. The pandemic didn't help for the first two as well.
I am very fortunate when it comes to my Paramore and Hayley loving friends cus this isn't the case for me, we're all very obsessed with this album. Even my partner who was never really into Paramore until This Is Why (thanks to me) is obsessed with this album. But still, I understand and agree with your point. I also can't help but feel it's somewhat intentional by her. Not that she doesn't want people to listen, but if she was aiming for the top of the charts, the rollouts for all three of her albums would've looked very different (and the music would've sounded a lot different too).
My partner never got into Paramore, which blows me away given we're both early 30s, but they can't get enough of Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. This came as such a relief to me because I spent a lot of time trying to get them into Paramore/Hayley's solo stuff and this album just clicked for them.
It's perfect. AOTY for me for sure--even tho Apple Music was weird and didn't clock it in my top albums at all lol
my partner didn't really listen to Paramore before we met, but had heard Cinnamon in his Spotify mix and really liked it and a couple other songs from Petals. but he also had no clue that the Hayley Williams he was listening to was the same Hayley Williams that sang for Paramore until i told him. he's still not a huge Paramore fan, but loves the vast majority of what he's heard from EDAABP - moreso than Petals
it was a tough few years of trying to sneak some of her music into car rides and watching them disengage. I was like...you had a scene kid phase? How did Paramore end up being your blind spot?
i read somewhere that songs selected as singles or for playlists Don’t count toward an album so all those singles necer counted toward the album.
miss Williams and her team knew what they were doing by putting this in front of the Warner / Atlantic offices LMAO
Same for me. Probably because I just edited the singles covers and order vs redownloading the actual album.
In a weekly group that listens to albums and ranks their tracks and shares with everyone, and nominations opened for specifically 2025 albums so I nominated this one. Hopefully it gets picked
I really appreciate just how open Hayley has been while promoting this music. Not to say that she's traditionally been closed off, but it sort of feels like whenever she's talked about this album, she's gotten a little piece of the exorcism that she keep saying she needs. The doors are open, she's allowing everyone in and to really be in conversation with her person, her art, and the impact of life as a creative person. I've been eating this all up and my appreciation for her continues to grow. Its nice to know that a person that I've looked up to and turned to since I was 12 can still be on this journey (at roughly the same time as me) 20 years later. This album is so special; this person and this artist are so special. I can't wait to see what the future of her output sounds like and I'd be quite content if this was the last album that she released under her own name. I think Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party feels like a culmination of everything she's experienced to this point and I hope she gets her dream of being in a million different bands. Kind of want a Hayley fronted hardcore band...
