I love PFA but I don't think I realised until you said this that Dead Horse is overwhelmingly my favourite PFA song. It's not even close. PFA was heavy on vibe and groove, but some songs maybe didn't have enough about them overall. DH though, absolutely top tier. Really intrigued to see what a setlist will look like. I wondered if she'd snub PFA and FFV, but she wouldn't, right?
I absolutely love PFA, I think I've come to liking this album more but PFA will always be fantastic. Sudden Desire, R/L/V/I, Watch Me While I Bloom, so good
I don't think she'll completely snub PFA, but if she's really doing the entire new album then I don't think it'll be strongly represented either. Maybe 3 songs (Simmer, Dead Horse, and in my ideal world Cinnamon?). I do think FFV probably gets snubbed unless she sticks My Limb in there or something, though if she played Over Those Hills I'd melt on the spot.
I admittedly didn’t look that deep, but from the few reviews I looked at, I was bummed no one seemed to have a perspective on the songwriting through the lens of the release strategy. It was a fun gimmick, yes, but it also surely has thematic relevance worth thinking about. Like, that quote, and the way the site looked like an old internet experience, and the limited CD release looking like a burnt mixtape, really tie into the “True Believer” line about the hardcore show venue becoming a Dominos. (Which itself relates to how she had some of that kinda sound weaved into the bridge of “Parachute.”) And, choosing to name this project “Ego Death…” Idk, the more I come back to and reflect on this, the more I think it’s one of the most interesting musical releases of the year and should probably take my personal #1 slot.
Just pre-ordered this print from an artist whose stuff I bought before and is super cute and I am excited
People complaining about this are exactly the kind of scum she doesn't want at her shows, love it when the trash takes itself out!
This didn't' click right away. Now it absolutely has. Been listening to the official release. But I want to listen again in the "original" order that I downloaded from the site and see how that works. I don't understand how True Believer works. My first impression of it was it was an odd song. Maybe too "artsy" for its own good. Now I can't get it out of my head!
Somehow I don't believe Amy that Hayley was a guest she's been wanting since she started the podcast lol but if that's true, that's rad.
idk, I'm buying it just based on how actually nervous Amy seemed throughout this interview. So much fun, two of my favs just hanging out was a perfect distraction from the snow anxiety I'm currently working through, lmao
