When I first heard Brotherly Hate I didn't super love it but it's grown on me a bunch Nick your haaaaaand~ SPIT INTO IT Shake your haaaaaands~ THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT
Brotherly Love reminds me of that one Dave Mackinder (Fireworks) side project, Tea&Water. Something about the intro and overall bouncy pace of the song gives me the same vibe as Change Your Mind. Linking it bc I don’t think the project is on streaming or Youtube, only Bandcamp
Apparently my local record store who's part of the release event is still in the process of moving locations, so the event's being held at the brewery next door to the new location and it's at 6:30 instead of 5 so I should be able to go after work
This woman is going to actually kill me one day because how can Good Ol' Days be THIS good after she already released so many unbelievably good songs for this album. And there's still one more coming? What could she possibly still be sitting on?? I'm allowed one parasocial comment right? The final song is going to be about her and Taylor getting back together. I know that's not true but it's a nice thought :)
a few days ago on Reddit, someone claimed to have gotten the vinyl early and allegedly posted a picture of the lyrics for Showbiz. i commented on the post and didn't see the Reddit notification with the pic, so i didn't get a chance to see the lyrics since it was deleted by the mods at that point, but judging by everyone else's reactions, the photo appeared to be legit, and the consensus was that the subject matter is pretty similar to Good Ol' Days.
Ahhhh I want to read that so bad but I don't want any spoilers until I hear the song myself so if I'm affirmed then I told you so, if I'm way off then I'm going to enjoy my final days/weeks of delusion.
she announced two more songs were on the way when she put physical copies up for preorder - with blank spots for tracks 19 and 20. names for the two extra songs were revealed when she put this CD up for purchase with the first 18 tracks only, crossing out the titles for the other two.
It took me a bit longer but I think I'm at the point where I like this more than Petals For Armor, and I still love that album too
Listening now, it's quite good. Can't not hear Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl in Mirtazapine, though. Very similar, almost distractingly so.
I was wondering what they were going to do with the timing of the move, and it seems like a pretty decent solution. I still can't go because of the day, but I didn't really expect the alternative to change that haha. Everything I've seen them post about the new location makes me think events there will be sick.
not sharing the link on this page for obvious reasons, but someone on Reddit put up a phone recording of them playing Showbiz from their vinyl they just received early, in addition to lyrics. solid song.
also per Reddit, it looks like Rough Trade is going to include this record as part of their 2025 Albums of the Year list, meaning that they'll not only be releasing an exclusive vinyl variant (pictured in the link), but could also release some sort of bonus record as well - like they do for most records that end up on their end of year list.
depends. sometimes it's a live album, sometimes it's a set of remixes, sometimes it's covers, occasionally it might be new songs or B-sides (e.g. when Sufjan released Javelin, the Rough Trade variant included a CD with 5 bonus tracks, which would later get a separate vinyl release from Rough Trade). it doesn't happen with every record that gets the designation, but there could be a chance it gets one.
Pre-ordered my copy of the vinyl from my local record store place that's doing the release party later today, gonna go after work and hopefully get a bunch of cool stuff along with my copy! Also I like that the variant is the Highlighter Yellow with being the major color theme for the cycle
