I was listening to like 5-6 songs on here that jumped out but then gave some more full listens and this is all just top tier music, love the way she sounds always but especially over the vibe of these instrumentals. Lyrics are great too, def one of my fav albums and biggest surprises this year
did hayley play the instruments on this record? i've always wondered why they're called solo records if hired guns do the instrumentation.
? Session musicians are a pretty normal thing and have been for decades, since before anyone on this forum was born. I don’t understand why you’re asking what you’re asking, lol.
Also, there’s not a ton of well known country, hip hop solo artists or pop acts playing a huge role in the instrumentals, many may provide direction for the vibe they are going for so even if she didn’t play anything (which I now see she did) how is this any different? If an album is a little bit less poppy genre wise, should other genres be given less slack in doing so? (More something I’ve been trying pondering for a bit, not meant to be an attack)
As a Paramore enjoyer who isn’t a super fan but always have enjoyed, this is much more vibe musically and she seems more locked in lyrically than ever imo (I should prob check out her previous solo stuff huh)
Love PFA, but only like maybe 2 or 3 of the new songs Glum and Mirtazapine are the only stand outs to me, and the rest kind of blur together and I can never remember which is which
I'm at the point where this is easily my favourite of her solo records and probably my favourite thing she's done since After Laughter.
favorite solo record of hers, and cant decide if i like this more than my fav pmore record (This Is Why). every song is phenomenal
Listened to “True Believer” about 500 times today. Might be my favorite song on the album, love how eerie it is
I agree . . . it is friendly but hyper aware of itself. So there is the enjoyment of the thing and then through the lens of her thinking . . . she is sharing that intimate insiders view of herself and it somehow also gets done in the instrumentation
