As far as I'm concerned, this is the definitive version of Glum. The affectation that she put on her voice in the studio version is one of the most baffling creative choices I've heard in some time. It's legitimately one of the best songs of her career, and it's produced with such artificiality.
parachute is amazing; I seriously adore this entire album. This is her strongest songwriting to date. just wow
I still can't get over Whim. That's the best pop song I've heard in a long time. It's got a whimsical feeling to it, especially in the chorus, that reminds me of something from the 90s I think. Anyone have any ideas? Cranberries maybe?
this is shooting up my AOTY list. my biggest complaint is that she had a minimum of 7 better cover options, especially that collage version of all the single art that someone made.
My most listened to song on last.fm has 364 listens... and that song came out in 2005 and I started using last.fm in 2011, lol
I've had an... interesting August. Basically been walking around NYC all day, every day and I'm addicted to some of these new songs, yes. I'm not normally one to listen to new shit on repeat but I'm a big fan and Hayley reeled me in, hook, line, and sinker. no, I'm not ok.
i like this sequencing a lot too! i was originally listening in the mythical "website order" so everything ended on such a high. love me different! hard! whim! glum! disappearing man! then i won't quit as kind of the coda. i think zissou and dream girl are probably my two least favorites from this project, so having them one after another towards the end is a little bit of a bummer. but with 20 songs there's bound to be something that's not my favorite.
still no word on r/vinylreleases. the clear one seems to be an australian exclusive. someone theorized that the pool water one was gonna be liquid filled and eugh i hope not i don't like yellow or orange tho. should've just gone with the teal, less stress
Got pulled in by the vibes of the title track before the actual album was announced, never listened to many else before so I have listened a few times and it’s just fantastic, brilliant evolution
