I’m in the minority but I don’t care. It’s not an album and they’re trying to make that clear. There was evidence from her socials that some of these songs came from ideas from 2017 or maybe even earlier. It was not written as a cohesive album.
Absolutely loving this. True Believer is the standout if I had to pick one. Being raised Catholic and having been a non-believer for sometime now, it just hits all the right spots.
i get that, and i'm ultimately not inherently opposed to the idea of classifying this as a collection of songs instead of an album. it's just a bit annoying to keep switching up any semblance of a "sequence" to prove it's not an album, y'know? just don't give it any order on platforms and call it a day. it reminds me of when Kanye West put out TLOP and was constantly making changes after release (even though Hayley's not changing the music itself). just leave it alone.
Just listen to the songs. the order truly doesn’t matter. If it did she would’ve had a track listing. Truly wild the amount of discourse around this when we just got 17 songs released out of nowhere lol
you guys are overthinking it lol a lot of these songs are insanely good, but especially "mirtazapine" and "whim"
Hayley Williams came to my house and punted my dog like a football Which is weird because I don't have a dog
Yea she just encouraged everyone to share their orders with her and that it will be pressed physically at some point
Outsourcing the sequencing is diabolical. Haha She said that it was not intended to be an album, but physical media is important, so she has to decide a sequencing eventually.
i'm fine with it being outsourced at this point. would be curious to see if people would push for the order they're most familiar with (i.e. website order, OG streaming sequence) or really have at a different sequence nobody else came up with. just glad it'll ultimately get a vinyl release that can sit next to her other two solo records
I don't think caring about song order is overthinking it. As a musician, album sequencing a really reqarding part of the creative process, to me. Cool that this batch of songs has a flexible order—I don't want to fight over one being "correct" or something like that. But it's fun to think about!
