I hope the second episode is better because the first sucked.

Are you a reviewer? As amusing as I find these regular posts, I have to wonder why you bother doing this to yourself, and the only answers I can come up with is that either you have to do it for work or hate-watching is your thing. In which case, I'm not judging. I just want to understand.

my wife enjoys them and, while i’m not a reviewer, i have a diseased brain and it’s important to me to be on top of what’s new and big

So I finally watched both episodes. I like that it's much lower key and contained compared to previous shows, even FAWS. It feels very street level. Clearly not as brutal as the Netflix shows, but operating in a similar space. I'm prepared for that to change at any moment though.

Anyone got any ideas on the watch and why it's so important? Also, what's the over/under on Jack being a red herring and Kate's mom being the real villain? She's acting real sus.

I think the watch is the one Tony wears in Civil War that turns into a glove.

100%. Couldn't be more obvious. My money is on Viper (one of the two major characters who have held the "Madame Hydra" title, the other being Valentina Allegra de Fontaine).

I'm wondering if they'll bring in any elements of the comics.

In the comics, Kate's mother was actually believed dead for a long time and came back as a vampire working for Madame Masque, an Iron Man villain who ends up having a rivalry with Kate.

    And while I'm at it...

In the comics, Kate's father is actually a bad guy with underworld connections who also gets associated with Madame Masque and becomes part of the West Coast Masters Of Evil.

    Conclusion?

I'm not sure if they'll bring in Madame Masque since I'd think we would've heard if someone was cast in the role. Also, technically the character was used in Agent Carter, so unless they want to open that can of worms, I'm not sure we'll see the character anytime soon.

However, if they did choose to bring her in, and if she is in the show, then it's possible they merge some comics elements and make Kate's mother Madame Masque? Feels like a stretch though. I also don't think they'll include the vampire part either.

I think the more likely route is that they borrow elements of the comic father and make Kate's mother have underworld connections that will lead to somebody. Doesn't have to be Madame Masque, but someone of known quantity.

I was not expecting the MCU to take on deafness vs Deafness, I must say.

Episode 3 feels a lot more like what I expected from this series. Leaning into the inherent absurdity of Hawkeye allows them to create some creative yet humorous action scenes. Reminds me of Ant-Man + The Wasp, in a good way. And Hailee is just great.

  25. I'm fine with cliffhangers in general, but these have been kinda dumb. idk how else I'd divide the episodes, tho. I'm enjoying the episodes themselves, I just don't remember feeling this underwhelmed between episodes of Wandavision and Loki.
