Whoever did Kingpin's costume design in this deserves an award.

 

I feel like the coolest reveal of this ( that Cardellini is MCU Mockingbird ) is going to go right over a lottt of heads.

 

Yeah I only knew about that through tiktoks of theorizing comic fans. I wonder if they'll ever address how Bobbi Morse in Agents of Shield also went by Mockingbird, maybe it's a mantle handed down like Clint to Kate

 

also lol at the red herring of Jack who ended up just being some rich dude who likes swords.

 

I just assumed Agents of SHIELD wasn't canon anymore so they probably could introduce versions of the same character into the mainline MCU. I'm sure we're eventually going to get MCU Ghost Rider too and it'll have absolutely nothing to do with the AoS character.

 

So that's the significance of the SHIELD watch

 

Yep Mockingbird who was Barton's longtime wife in the comics, was also a Shield agent who went by the codename of "Agent 19"

 

Man that mid-credits scene too! Huge shake-up for the MCU going forward.

 

Kingpin is so badass. He needs to face MCU Spidey

 

Hopefully this Kingpin faces Daredevil and Spiderman at some point

there were way too many threads for this to wrap up in any satisfactory way so I'm not surprised this felt like a series of slapped together scenes with almost no connective tissue

stuff like Maya being totally muscled out of the main story because another highly trained female assassin has a vendetta against Clint is so frustrating. she didn't have any interaction with the main characters tonight, just spent most of her time dealing with Kazi, who idk I guess we were supposed to care about but I found just intensely bland

Vera Farmiga did not have anything worthy of her talent to do (I guess the whole "is this what heroes do?" speech was meant to be moving but it just came off incredibly awkward and kinda funny). as much as I love Tony Dalton too you could cut his character from the entire season and lose almost nothing. dude is fucking Lalo he deserves better than this red herring

Steinfeld and Pugh were, obviously, fantastic and the screen absolutely came alive every scene they shared. shame we couldn't have had an entire season of this, but the pay-off with Yelena and Clint really justified this entire thing. Pugh is honestly one of the greatest actors of her generation, the way she can carry an entire scene even with a goofy Russian accent and then just rip your heart out the next. the "she did?" when Clint said Nat talked about her all the time, goddamn

lastly I guess D'Onofrio was great but I didn't care for this version of Kingpin at all. just felt like the Cliff Notes version of his performance in Daredevil, a big lumbering brute instead of the incredibly emotionally complex monster he was in that show. pretty big letdown after all that buildup which is about how I'd summarise the show too lmao

 

When did Kingpin take a super serum? Dude was strong as hell in this haha

 

they tend to be cagey about just how strong he is but shrugging off an arrow to the chest at point blank range basically makes him Luke Cage lmfao

 

Apparently comics wise potentially regarding the end Echo has shot Kingpin point blank and he lived albeit blinded

 

least essential show in a series of decreasingly essential properties

 

Really excited for Kate, Yelena, and Maya going forward. As enjoyable as this was, though, I have to agree, it doesn't feel as essential as the other Disney+ shows. So much of its appeal is just moving stuff around for future projects to build on

 

Pretty good episode, I thought it was interesting that it was this version of wilson and that the way it ended seems like there’s definitely not going to be another season

 

Are we getting a long break with these live action MCU shows? Ms Marvel was supposed to come next but that isn't coming out until Summer. Both Moon Knight and She-Hulk are not dated yet.

Secret Invasion is the next one i'm really excited for, but i don't think we're getting that until 2023.

 

It was essential in the sense that it introduced characters who will be important to the MCU moving forward

Biggest takeaway I got from this is Clint must be a grill master having a green egg of that size AND that barrel grill. Im trying to be at his place all summer.

 

I wonder how the burning smelled. Or I guess would have smelled. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the fire in cgi. Idk why that was my thought process during that scene, what that material is and how it would smell

 

My thought was why the fuck are you ruining your grill??
