I really wanted to like this, but it was rough. The second half in particular felt like a completely different movie for the worse. The clips that played before every call back were borderline insulting.

And just once, I want a legacy sequel where the main characters life doesn't turn to absolute shit. Killing off Virginia felt fucked

    As others have said....spot on.

The first half, I was like, oh! This might be decent. They're gonna treat it like a real movie. Maybe try and hit some feels. I thought Sandlers kids were the best part

MJF > Becky in this btw. Wtf? Were Becky lines cut? She didn't have any lines!

Second half. Wow, awful and everything i assumed it would be. Pop culture references, celebrity cameos, and they reallllllllly wanted to shoe horn literally every single character or line uttered in the original.

The only saving grace in this was Shooter. He was the best aspect of the original and he does it again. The fact that Shooter was at a mental hospital, alone, was hilarious to me lol

5/10 is fair because Shooter made me laugh and the golf cameos were kinda funny.

Immediately noticed this too. Snack Shack was such a good movie and possibly my favorite of last year. Certainly overlooked. Great story and acting. Could have been the Superbad of the 2020s.

So after watching this twice to come up with my final opinion, here I go.
I had low expectations judging from Sandler's two decades of films, but still love the original. Remember seeing it in the theater opening weekend with my neighbor and rewatching a zillion times since.
The first half of the movie was pretty much great. I liked where the story was going and seeing the Happy character in the future. The surprise death was shocking, but fit well in the story. The daughter story line was fine, just didn't really need the 4 brothers. Cameos were basically uncalled for.
Once you get to the part with the Maxi golf tournament it was all down hill. Just too silly. I like the idea of an XFL type golf and the reason behind it, but make it more realistic and not some ABC mini golf type show.

I do like the Rocky III of it all with Shooter being the Apollo to Happy's Rocky putting aside his differences to help train him.

I was 10 when Happy Gilmore came out and 29 years later it's still a much quoted/talked about/re-watched film for an entire generation.

My son is 10 and we watched Happy Gilmore 2 the other night and I'm kind of bummed that he'll forget about this film's existence in like, two weeks.

My biggest gripe of the movie is all of the cutaways to the first film.

I land somewhere in between. It's better than most comedy sequels, but the back half was pretty much just AI slop.

First half more fun than I was expecting and second half even worse than I was expecting, so I guess it evens out

Can’t see myself watching it again, but I had fun
