Just randomly went on to see if I could find any tickets and got some for January 29th. They are very expensive of course...but I'm using this as an anniversary gift for my wife. She will go crazy.
That's an extremely shallow critique of the musical. It's as if what he really wants to critique are things loosely connected to Hamilton, and only has a very surface-level understanding of the work itself
Saw the show last night. I was a bit worried going into it about the loss of some of the leads. However I was completely blown away. It's just a fantastic piece of theatre. Everything was near perfect. There's also a lot of subtle comedy which gets lost while just listening to the Soundtrack. Definitely worth the money I paid for it.
I finally listened to the entire cast recording all the way through. I'm a huge fan of musicals and I can honestly say this is some of the smartest, wittiest and catchiest music I've ever heard in one (I said the same thing about 'Something Rotten' which gave 'Hamilton' a run for its money this year at the Tony's and is one of the best shows I've seen live to date). Some of the shows most powerful songs are by women which is so refreshing in a musical about the founding of our country. It's shedding some spotlight on the lesser known heroes of the American Revolution and sparking an interest in kids to learn more about it. I work in Downtown Manhattan and I pass by Alexander Hamilton's grave on the way to work every morning. Daily it is packed with people taking photos and stuff. The cultural impact this show has had on young people is even greater than the music itself and that's saying something.
I saw it with the original cast back in June. Got a chance to go up on stage and meet some of the guys as well. I have a picture of Lin petting my guide dog -- I gave him permission first. Absolutely devastatingly amazing piece of art.
I had no idea there was a Hamilton thread. I never thought a musical would end up being my most played, go to album for the past six months, but here I am. I can't wait for the day when I will finally score reasonably priced tickets to this thing.
Chance the Rapper doing anything Dear Theodosia related. Fucking end me. My emotions can't handle that.
what was Lin's last tweet? Just the tracklisting? I think it's a picture which doesn't work well for me. So stoked for this!
