Song is good but I honestly feel like I have heard this exact song/melody from her many times before already
New track rules…this should have been the direction she went in for the entire project. Lucky is legit one of my least favorite interpolations I’ve ever heard.
I want the full pivot to rock/alt for her, she does it wayyyyy better than some of the other more pop-rock focused acts (Olivia, Maggie, etc). She isn't afraid to have a level of aggressiveness in the music that recalls some grunge/industrial from the 90s. She has this grimy sound to her vocals, it doesn't have that pop sheen on it like some other acts.
Yeah there's no basis to compare Olivia to Halsey in that sense, it's like comparing Fall Out Boy to Nine Inch Nails
very true! Commercial compared to a bit more left of center. She just seems to have more of that darker side down that the others don’t, not saying that makes her better than anyone, just more my preference.
I feel like the lukewarm response to iichl, iwp is going to hold her back from fully committing to a rock album anytime soon. Still think that album is ridiculously underrated
