I never got around to the bonus tracks so this is like a fun little EP that reminds me of how much I love this album.
Super lame that he can't just apologize and realize that while he is allowed to dislike this album he was way off base in his review
Idk, he did something with Olivia Rodrigo recently, so maybe there’s renewed attention. My default is to think it’s probably best for creatives to not engage with reviews. But also, I find that guy’s vibe so obnoxious. And, while I didn’t specifically hear what he had to say, I remember other reviews (I think Pitchfork was one?) that were poorly crafted and didn’t “get” it or whatever. And, it’s not like it’s the most complex work to successfully engage with and understand, lol.
he's a dumbass with a bad take about the health of a chronically ill person, regardless of his thoughts on the album. he doesn't deserve an ounce more of anyone's attention, especially as he continues to double down.
That review got trashed when it first came out too, I think even by her. Unfortunate it's being brought back up, I understand especially with this one how personal it must feel for her to address it but I truly think it's better for her to just not give critic reviews the time of day.
I posted a little about this in the OR thread, but at the time it did not appear the Swiftie-bot hate train would break containment. Since then, they pivoted from using a comp video of Ronald McDonald saying horrible shit when he was younger, to a focused effort bringing up the Halsey review, and he took the bait like a complete idiot. Then this became so amplified in the algorithms that it reached Halsey herself, and now it is mission accomplished. It feels crazy this all stemmed from an Olivia press tour.
yeah it all started from the swifties thing but Ronald McDonald did mention it first, halsey didn’t randomly start it 2 years later
We cannot let the unemployed stans divide us Also, they should absolutely not engage with critics because (and this is not excusing any insensitive reviews) their response to Pitchfork's coverage of their albums has also been historically bad. Everyone loses
i'm still confused what Olivia has to do with all of this. he interviews her and suddenly Swifties are mad and bring up his negative opinions on other female/femme-presenting artists that aren't Olivia?
I think the, very stupid, idea of it is "Look Olivia agrees to do an interview with this guy who's done this bad stuff in the past, Taylor would NEVER do an interview with someone like that" or something along those lines
Pretty much, yeah. They’ve had it out for her ever since the Deja Vu writing credits thing and they’ve been waiting for her to slip up. Very strange
I refuse to waste any mental bandwidth on shit like this, preserve your mind folks. These stans need healthier hobbies
