When I started getting super into Halsey last year and would listen to the “this is Halsey” playlist on shuffle, the tracks from hopeless fountain kingdom were often my least favorite.

But, I’ve been listening to the full album recently, and the approach to the production honestly really works for me now. It’s aiming for “epic” and maybe not succeeding 100%, but like. I have a real affection for their indulgence and lack of shame/cringe, so the “big”ness kinda hits. And, the more, idk, hip hop flourishes do work quite work for their voice, imo.

I appreciate that, even when they’re being a bit sweaty and overwrought and shit, there’s a confidence and sense of playfulness where I’m like, yeah girl. You got this, lol.

 

Looks like h was at Knocked Loose's show in London tonight, love that for them lol.
