The back-to-back of "Girl is a Gun" and "You asked for this" is unbelievably good. Going from DnB tinged pop immediately into a shoegaze track and pulling both off is just wild. The rest of the album didn't do a whole lot for me on first listen but I'm coming around to it more with each subsequent spin. Those two tracks though, I just can't stop thinking about them.
Still haven’t gotten a chance to listen to this yet. I’ve always been a Halsey fan even if I haven’t loved one of their albums completely. I thought the last was particularly boring.
I should have got a ticket/ watched the live event. If anyone sees it on YouTube, drop the link before it gets taken down. EDIT: Did anyone see the film in theaters? Will it get put online at some point?
Finally listening to this and both the songwriting and the production are out of this world, really good stuff so far. Is "You asked for this" a shoegaze song? Good lord
Not to turn the attention away from Halsey who deserve it because this album rules but I wonder what NIN streaming numbers look like (or looked like) when this came out or when it was announced Reznor was producing this. Or even just google searches for “who is Trent Reznor?” since I assume most of Halsey’s fans are not the type to know who Trent is or that he was/is NIN. same for after The Social Network came out or after he was the Oscar for that. How many people or young kids have discovered The Fragile or any of the other records over the last few months or weeks.
This grows on me with every listen and the Lowe interview is great. "you asked for this" is getting alternative radio pick ups, which is awesome. I saw it got put in rotation at my old college station a couple days ago.
