Stoked! Hopefully this is her magnum opus. I've enjoyed songs from each of her albums so far but I've never been blown away.
Yeah, I've been following her for 5 years now, but I've never felt like she's had a perfect album. Badlands felt a bit too stripped back, HFK had a bit too much filler. 'Manic' was so close, but bogged down by this fight between her inner bedroom pop songstress ("Clementine" & "Beautiful Stranger") and the reality of Pop Stardom ("Still Learning" & "Ashley"). But I think this might be the definitive album of her career, and I'm so thrilled.
100% agree she hasn't released an album yet that is good the whole way, all of them have some big mis steps
IMAX experience was really cool there was a QR code for this exclusive vinyl if anyone wants it If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power - IMAX Exclusive LP – IICHLIWP Store
The movie was awesome, I'm glad I decided to go. Really excited to hear the full album without all the distractions but there was some really cool stuff going on. The song when they were running through the woods back to that cabin was sweet and I could see being one of the big ones from this.
It’s cool that they’re doing a variant for IMAX people, but if this album’s good, I’d want to order the OG cover. One of the top 5 album covers from a mainstream artist since Melodrama.
"Honey" is the best song she's ever done in my opinion and this album is a fucking masterpiece. It's much more challenging and requires more interpretation than her past albums, but FUCK, it's so rewarding.
I think H uses uses she & them pronouns interchangebly, but yeah, they almost definitely prefer both be used.
I’ll pop back in to this thread when I finish listening, only a few tracks in and it’s already beyond my expectations
This album is stacked with highlights. I was impressed by every song and that immediate visceral reaction has been so rare for me. The melodies and surprises pack a punch, the industrial flourishes are so fucking fun, their voice and lyrics really shine, and the production is outstanding. Collaborating with Trent and Atticus has worked out perfectly for Halsey
Really excited to hear this tomorrow. The film isn't playing anywhere near me so I sprung for the Moment House stream on Sunday.
This album is super interesting, I'm going to need time with it. Maybe because I KNOW the situation with it, but it feels like a soundtrack more than an album if that makes any sense at all. I think everything here is good, but definitely going to need more time to dissect it
On my first listen, really digging the sequencing and how cohesive it is. Also sounds even more like a latter-day NIN record than I was expecting, but I'm not mad about that.
Stayed up past midnight to give this a listen. Dont think I can finish it all tonight, but damn Easier than Lying and Girl is a Gun are fantastic.
