As someone who LOVES Halsey... She does not fit with this vibe. The beat is funky and the lyrics are jovial, but she says "Stay, I'm Good Right Here, I Been Waiting For You All Year, Let's Play" in the most uninterested and depressing tone of voice imaginable, it's actually impressive. I know "Halsey sings in cursive" is a dead meme from when 'New Americana' was the most hated song on the planet, but wow is it ever true here. She's done upbeat songs before too (Heaven in Hiding, Bad At Love, Honey, Forget Me Too) but I think big ballads and rock bangers are much more suited to her voice than funk.
collector's edition CD/Blu-Ray of IICHLIWP now available. $65 is a steep price tag, but i just might have to consider this. If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power - Collector's Edition - Album + Fil – IICHLIWP Store
Looks like we're getting an anniversary event of some sort for Room 93 tomorrow, probably a merch drop.
All anniversaries are arbitrary, but an eight-year anniversary just seems like “Everybody’s doing it, so we gotta strike while anniversary merch is hot.”
Decided to throw on If I Can't Have Love for the first time in a while. I am still very into it. "You asked for this" and "Honey" in particular. I'll be curious to see what's next.
Disappointed nothing connected off of that in the mainstream like her previous albums (or loose single right after). By far, her best album.
Yeah it really sucks this album didn't take off the way it should've--easily her best and my favorite release of '21. Would've loved a continuation/expansion of this sound, maybe someday
I think half the album was really cool and the other half really bad, not surprised it didn't get much love
big NIN fan, so i've loved it all from the start. one of the biggest surprises in the past few years for me.
