I think it's great and really like the video/meaning too. I do hope she does more stuff like Nightmare/Experiment on Me at some point.
I’m into it. I personally enjoy how Halsey has so much diversity to their sound and can tackle so many styles. If I Can’t Have Love… is my favorite by them too but I also am not expecting them to stick to that sound.
Yeah this is very much a pop song and a huge contrast from If I Can’t Have Love. I don’t hate it but it’s just there for me.
Maybe it’s my age but I kind of hate to see them jump away from this album so quickly. I assume this is a thing with quote-unquote younger artists to just kind of be done with an era and move on in less than a year.
I didn’t really pay attention but did this album have any hits? That could be why they’re moving on so quickly
I Am Not a Woman, I'm a God was technically the highest charting single from the album and it peaked at #64 on the hot 100
Unfortunately I think this is likely the reason. Highest-charting song from this hit #64 on the Hot 100. I think they made clear that this was an album they made for themselves, but I imagine when you’re at a certain level of mainstream success the label is inevitably gonna put pressure on the artist to consistently pump out hits.
I think that's always been the case in pop haha, I know there are exceptions but releasing an album every year or 2 is common
The tour is still going on for a while and this is just a loose single. Wouldn’t say she’s moving on just yet!
I’m just reading the tea leaves here and seeing how they took several songs of this off of their setlist. But maybe they just didn’t work with the crowd. Who’s to say.
Also, I feel like this was a “One for me” album. Unless they were really banking on alt-rock radio success, a Reznor-produced album was never gonna connect with pop radio.
I think this was an After Laughter type of situation where it didn't perform insanely well, but it also wasn't really intended to. Pretty disappointed that it didn't blow up and would definitely prefer them to mess around with the IICHLIWP sound for a little longer, but I'm not surprised they're going back to a more pop sound so soon
Keep foregtting last two records came out kind close. Manic was January 2020 and If I Can't Have Love was August 2021
Lmao I was just looking up Ashley O on Spotify cus it’s that kind of night, and Halsey came up which I thought was kind of weird cus I know that’s her name but I didn’t realize Spotify would know an artist’s real name like that… and that’s when it hit me that Halsey is an anagram for Ashley. I’m sure this is very common knowledge, I can’t believe I didn’t know
Ok I know trust me… I felt extremely dumb as soon as I realized haha it just never clicked and I’ve been a casual fan until recently
If by any chance someone wants 2 lawn tickets for Tinley Park tomorrow I’ll send them to you for free cus I’m going to the Summerfest show tonight instead
