they said chief takes off his helmet at some point and they didn't go back and revisit the game story/lore so i'm just gonna skip this despite it being one of my favorite and most played game series as a kid.
I thought the first episode was good. John does take off his helmet for the last 10 minutes of the episode, but I didn't really mind it. The color correction is the only thing I'm not a fan of. It's too saturated.
I'll probably give it a shot. Seems like it could be fun. But it ignoring games is a bit of a bummer.
yeah i saw the trailer again last night and I meant to come here and ask if they were doing the games or not. Seems reallllllllllllly stupid to make a halo series and not have it follow the plot of, you know, Halo
Sounds to me like they just thought having the show and the game take place in the same continuity would be messy for both iterations. I think that sounds totally understandable.
I've never played a Halo game in full (i think I rented it once in like 2001), barely know anything about Halo lore, and have no real emotional connection to this franchise. I'm going into this viewing it with fresh eyes as just a straight up science fiction series with no preconceptions, and I think it's pretty damn good so far.
Same here. I know nothing about Halo lore and that first episode was straight fire. Great sci-fi action. I'll continue tuning in. I'm really impressed.
I think it was kind of brilliant putting this on Paramount+ where all the diehard Star Trek fans who will give most science fiction shows a chance will watch it and like it, and not put it on Showtime like they originally planned.
Finally starting this and as a whole it's kinda just fine, but the cold open to episode 1 was wild. Always love it when they show how much of a threat the Covenant actually is
Through the four episodes released so far; I'm quite liking this. They're slowly building up the world, making me more and more intrigued by everything (as someone who's never really played the games, outside of the original Halo). The production/sets are of high quality, the acting pretty decent, the character decisions make sense, and the CGI pretty good as well. Liking this more than I liked Foundation from last fall
Yeah I think a lot of the outright hate the show is getting just boils down to "it's not like the games/books" which is pretty lame since they said from the outset the show wasn't gonna follow that timeline. There are actual issues that I hope they address in season 2 that don't just go back to it being different from the games (mostly that the Kwan/Madrigal story isn't particularly interesting and they're doing too much telling and not enough showing as far as the Covenant goes IMO), but the stuff that works is pretty consistently well done and engaging
This show really came to life when they introduced Cortana. Makee is a great villain and I love the stuff with Kai-125.
This season was awesome. Very weird that some people act like this show was an abject failure because it focused more on just being a solid sci-fi action drama rather than being the fan servicey lorefest people are used to.
I keep seeing the trailer for the second season and it looks good enough that I might give the first season another chance.
