Yeah, AV Club gave it a C. Their reviews can be a bit hit or miss, though. I enjoy reading reviews, but for a movie like this, they won't stop me from seeing it.
Didn't see that, haha. I tend to skip over comment sections on most sites. They can be... disheartening.
Also, I really only give credit to or pay attention to those who care for and are avid fans of the horror genre. Some no name on some site assigned to watch a horror movie that they never had interest in to begin with is a lose/lose situation for both the reviewer and the movie. Horror and Macabre are an acquired taste. To some, all horror movies suck. And that's fine, but your judgement means nothing to me.
AA Dowd is a pretty reputable reviewer. I’ll be waiting for Slant/ReverseShot (If they do one) to pass judgement
I also feel like depending on how much you love the original movie and are a fan, or maybe even the second as well, this movie can either be a genuinely new experience of a horror scares to a newcomer or the justice of a proper sequel you’ve been waiting years for. And that’s where opinions become moot to me for my favorite horror genre. I talk like I’ve already seen it. God damn those guuuuuud trailers.
It’s a slasher movie getting a wide release in theatres — it’s going to be a breath of fresh air regardless
I'm not gonna ruin anything, but I have a problem with avoiding spoilers for things I love. I am impressed with myself in that I only allowed myself to read up to what I would imagine is the premise/first half hour of the movie. I love the premise, I think it sounds well done. I think that how they're trying to make a sensible and buyable sequel is great. Didn't read as a forced, unmotivated plot to me at all. I then got to a point that made me grin so hard I was like "fucking stop it, you're gonna enjoy this much more in a month." Believe my hype, this is gonna be the best Halloween sequel since II.
Was at the movies today and when the preview was about the start, I had to look down on the ground the entire time.
Unrelated to the new movie, the Halloween 4 maze at universal Halloween Horror Nights was dope. Took some liberties but they sprinkled in some Halloween 3 stuff which I liked. Danielle Harris was there, too!
