Currently going through a series re-watch, and this is my current ranking of the series... 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Halloween 2 (1981) 3. Halloween H20 4. Halloween (2007) 5. Halloween 4 6. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch 7. Halloween 2 (2009) 8. Halloween 5 9. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 10. Halloween Resurrection
The tone and feel of 6 was good. But the plot line is too much and unbelievable. If it weren’t for Paul Rudd and The Don Pleasance, that movie would never be revisited haha.
The mark of thorn stuff was so bad. Nearly as bad as Resurrection’s attempt at capitalizing on the Blair Witch trend. As a whole, this series isn’t great. The most interesting aspect of the series is that it has a “choose your adventure” option for fans. I personally go with 1, 2, and 7. But I’m VERY open to the idea that DGG is selling.
I would rank them as: Halloween 2 (1981) Halloween (1978) Halloween 4 Halloween H2O. Those are the only films in the series tbh
Picked up the complete collection on Blu-Ray a few months back, it was my first time seeing each of them aside from the original and the Zombie remakes. Was pleasantly surprised at how much I fell in love with the series as a whole. Did a pretty detailed mini-review of each film in the horror thread (and am about to do the same with the Friday the 13th series). My ranking would go as follows: Halloween Halloween 2 Halloween 3 Halloween 4 Halloween 6 H20 Halloween 2007 -------------- Halloween 5 Halloween Ressurection Halloween II 2009 High hopes for the new film.
H2O is not that good. The masks are ridiculous and the teenagers are insufferable . Don’t get me started on the music haha
I had always remembered H20 being a lot better, but when I watched the whole series front to back. I found it to be underwhelming overall, and Michael/The Shape was pretty lame n tame
Before David and Danny got involved with this project I often found myself day dreaming about how I would return to the franchise and I always found myself coming back to a couple of things. I would want to focus more on the town itself and how its residents live with the events of the past and the reemergence of Michael (so much so that I even toyed with the idea of the new movie being Haddonfield). However, I also wanted to really put the holiday of Halloween at the foreground as well.
Have you guys read the scrapped Halloween 4 script? It’s really cool. It’s very much about the town’s PTSD and fear of Halloween manifesting itself in the form of The Shape. It gets kinda trippy at the end. Akkad scrapped it for being too weird. Full text of "Dennis Etchison's Halloween 4 Script" Note: it’s got a bunch of type-o’s haha
Thanks for posting. I've seen this referenced before but never actually saw a copy of it. Will read later when i'm off.
