The Corey storyline also didn’t really lead to anything? Like it had no effect really on the ending at all. It almost feels like a filler sub plot that also took up the majority of the movie. I guess you could say he led Michael Myers to Laurie, maybe?, but I think we as an audience could understand for the 13th time he was able to find her.
I took it as his storyline led to what evil does to a person. He went after Laurie because she tried to help him, then flipped her script when she realized what was happening to him and told him to stay away from Allyson, who he became infatuated with to a point of influence. Michael had that connection with him, hence why he didn’t kill him after looking into his eyes, and was in some weird way…a mentor.
Went in with some optimism but lost confidence when I saw four writers listed in the opening credits. It truly went downhill from there.
All I know is if my mom was killed by my grandma’s supernatural serial killing stalker, I’m probably not running off with the weird guy that killed a kid because I’m so deeply in love with him after knowing him for a week.
Yeah, Allison’s unrelenting infatuation with Corey is super odd given her history. They didn’t do anything to build their relationship in the movie and nothing involving them feels earned. Even if you want to give them credit for trying something new, you also have to give them credit for a super lazy, nonsensical story especially given it’s the end of a trilogy. It would be one thing of this was a middle chapter or standalone movie, but as the end of a trilogy the direction they went in is incomprehensible.
I really wish they had Michael kill Corey in a way that wasn’t just finishing him off, since he was dead anyway. Especially since he only had Allyson convinced that Laurie killed him for like a couple minutes.
michael hiding in a hole was 1. good 2. resulted in the most beautiful shots across these three movies
This movie was confounding, hyper-dramatic and mystifying… but I really enjoyed it. Ending the new trilogy with this story is the biggest question I have. I think it brought up an interesting question around the idea of “evil” - are people born monsters or are they made? But I think that’s how you start a trilogy, not end one. Especially when the made monster (half of your idea) appears out of thin air in the last third.
lmao thank you. I loved how this movie looked the other nurse walking out onto the patio and you could just see the shape of Corey stabbing the doctor over and over in the dark behind her..... damn
One good thing Kills and Ends did was solidify Scream as the best horror franchise. You know it's true. I'd watch the lowest entries in Scream over Kills and Ends.
I maintain that Halloween Resurrection remains the worst major horror sequel still. Runner up: Freddy’s Dead.
Honestly the Corey thing isn’t a bad setup for a Halloween movie. Maybe just not the one billed as the finale to the franchise.
Logic explanation is He’s old AF and has been living on rats for 4 years so he’s weak as hell buuuuuuuut also he’s pure evil so maybe that shouldn’t matter…
They really messed up the ending here. Would have loved to see the Laurie/Myers fight go the way it did. But have Myers stab Laurie instead of just choke her, and they both end up dead. Her daughter sees it happen, and then gets the role of Laurie going forward (building traps, training others, etc.). Have her walk out and see Corey missing. He's the new Shape. They already had a connection, similar to Laurie/Myers. New trilogy starts.
on top of that, i don't buy that corey guy getting bulled by marching band kids. even at the start, the little kid was bullying him. and then he goes and bullies michael myers. lmao wtf.
