nah Kills is worse in almost every conceivable respect lol. idc if it takes place on Halloween or not, it's dogshit
Someone brought a goddamn 2 year old to the 7PM Dolby Cinema Opening Weekend Saturday Night showing of this. What the fuck
I probably sound like a huge jerk but as a childless adult, I think you lose your privilege to see blockbuster movies opening weekend if you can’t find a sitter for your small child. Take them to a Tuesday matinee!
Kills was definitely better than this. At least Kills respected Michael Myers. This film had a nobody loser wrestle him to the ground and steal his mask. What a joke
Certainly didnt feel like a typical Halloween movie, but I enjoyed it. Certainly not the best way to end such a historical franchise. Could have been better as a part 2 or something instead of Kills.
I absolutely loved this. Not what I expected at all, but I loved it. I loved the opening scene and Corey's story. Overall, Great take on evil, great kills, and great music. I also enjoyed how it ended. I'm ready for a reboot for the franchise lol.
Made sense w/r/t his character and gave the audience what they wanted (for better or for worse). If you want to talk about a film disrespecting it's audience, Laurie literally saying "You didn't think I'd actually kill myself, did you?" Into the camera is some of the wackest shit I've ever seen in a Halloween film
Neither did Ends. They literally advertised this movie to be this big showdown between Michael and Laurie and they both have less screen time than a random character that wasn’t even introduced until this film. At least Kills treated Michael like a threat and didn’t have to fool the audience into thinking it was going to be something it wasn’t.
Why did he not kill him for so long only to kill him for no apparent reason? And why was he fighting for the knife? So many random questions…
I interpreted this all as Laurie and a community vs Evil and not vs Michael himself. The talks of evil were pretty clear throughout. Laurie changing the ending of the book from “him” to “it” to “evil” because it was bigger than Michael. Corey’s story wouldn’t make any sense without the spread of Evil and what Laurie saw in him. Michael let him live because he saw it too. Evil is where brutality comes from. It’s where numbing comes from. It’s where the burn it all down mentality comes from. It’s referenced all throughout Corey’s story. Dr. Loomis even references evil in his eyes in other movies. He knew. Halloween Kills was even about what Evil did to a community. Even if they did say It Ends Tonight and Evil Dies Tonight a million times. Hence Laurie not being in the movie a lot. I need go back and reread the book since it’s been a good 20+ years. But If I’m remembering correctly, the book takes more of the evil approach with the backstories. In the end it was a story of evil watched the through the eyes of Laurie, Michael, and community. that’s what I’m taking away from it.
Laurie burning a pie while mumbling oddities is some real Mrs. Doubtfire shit that doesn’t belong anywhere near her character.
