I was thinking of paying to see this in theaters this weekend but based off the reviews I will just watch it on Peacock for free. The last one had terrible immediate reviews but I honestly didn't hate it, however, this feels different lol If I can just get mostly Michael Myers wondering the streets slashing people then I am happy. I am nervous we aren't getting this.
Midway through I kinda thought Corey was going to try to kill Laurie but Michael would actually save her and then he’d just walk away and they’d go their separate ways. At least that didn’t happen
this was competently made, directed and acted which already takes it out of the bottom 3 of this franchise lol the more I think about it the more 5 might be my least favourite Halloween film. just an ugly-ass movie to look at and experience, feels so unnecessarily mean-spirited from the moment Rachel dies, the rest is a dull exhausting slog. at least 6 and Resurrection are funny bad
I have no idea what I thought of this. I don’t think I’ll ever have the urge to watch it again. I guess I appreciate trying to have a different take on the movie, but meh. Didn’t do much for me.
You know it's a bad Halloween movie when I don't like it. Sheesh. Bottom three. Agree that the idea in theory is interesting, but the execution is just ass. They did these characters so fucking dirty lol. Incredibly frustrating and unsatisfying.
liked this quite a bit more than Kills but not nearly as much as 2018. middle of the pack for the series as a whole too. it's fine. im glad this group is moving onto the exorcist.
man I must be way too harsh on some of these other sequels cos DGG coulda personally stepped out of the film, punched me in the face, stole my keys and drove off and I still wouldn't put this in my bottom 3
It’s possible that recency bias is influencing my take here. There’s a lot about this movie that didn’t work, but also some big swings I kinda liked? Also I haven’t seen 2018 or Kills since they came out, so I’d like to rewatch both and see where I’m at
I wasn’t a fan of this and feel it’s all over the place. It tried to do something different, but was not a good ending…
Entire town spontaneously forms a parade route at midnight on Halloween to the local junkyard Arrives at junkyard and doesn't acknowledge that they find 5 bodies right there, including 4 children All celebrate throwing a dead guy into a meat grinder Cut to Final Scene
Ultimately, I had a good time watching it. I left feeling that it was a weird movie for the most part and a strange entry into the Halloween franchise. I like Allison and Laurie. And even the Cory guy had a good story arc, but in the third and last film of the trilogy? He should have been introduced in Kills, at least. It feels odd that they seem to have implied that they had the whole series plotted out because this feels so out of place. I just dunno what to think beyond how much this reminded me of CHRISTINE. Also, needed more Lindsay. Like, seeing her as a bartender is cool but — why was she at Laurie’s house one night out of nowhere? Lots of unpack. As I said, ultimately a good compelling story and I had a good time. Can’t ask for much more I suppose. And the score was great.
