And I love Lucky Stars, which the P4K reviewer did not! Take that, Steve! After my second listen, I think the last four songs are where it’s at its weakest. I think it’s a good album but pretty much like all their records, I don’t think I love it as a whole. The last one is probably still my favorite but we’ll see how I feel in a few weeks.
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere both Este and Alana have a song where they each sing lead vox on this record.
I’m not super familiar with this band but there a few songs of theirs I love. But this week I learned “Now it’s time” was going to be essentially a huge Numb by U2 sample and holy shit the song is incredible. So freaking sweet. U2 sampled one of their songs on their last album so it’s pretty sweet to see it come back around.
Absolutely not a fan of the raw/rough drumming sound, but there are some interesting music parts on this. Still nowhere near the highs of "Something To Tell You".
LOVE this record. I never really listened to them, so I had no idea the singer could sing like that. Some of these songs have straight up R&B vibes.
Rapidly growing on me. I just expected more bangers at first. is the piano in Now It’s Time a literal VW sample or does it just sound like it because rostam
I like the majority of this. There’s a few songs towards the end that I didn’t care for. Spinning in particular I didn’t make it to the end of the song haha
Unfortunately I’m not feeling this one at all. I respect their need to evolve and grow as artists but I feel like it takes away from what made them special. Lots of artists do indie music like this. But no one else did pop music like them.
I really enjoyed my first listen. I definitely understand the last bit being where it gets a little lost but I think those songs are still pretty good. The rest is great though, they do some really cool things on this album. The production is pristine, the vocals and instruments just sound so good. I really like that some of these songs are given space to breathe with some extra jamming out, guitar solo, vibingggg. Good stuff
All Over Me, Cry and Love You Right were the initial stand outs for me. Gonna give this another listen on my train ride tonight.
Spinning felt almost like shoegaze, no? Maybe it was lucky stars, I wasn't really looking at track names when listening
