Shouldn't this be an issue with the festival and not their agent?

Where I started? We're getting from talking about Atlantic being synonymous with FBR, which wasn't necessarily the case in 2003 with FOB. Again, you're creating this false argument when we are both pretty much in agreement.

  4. At this point I don't even think you know what you've typed previously in this thread.

I never at any point indicated they were being irrational due to being female If the same story were written about The Gaslight Anthem or an all-male band I'd still be making the same comments and asking the same questions. I think this is simply a case of not supplying enough context, that's all.

Yes, if the Festival is offering them a low rate under the guise of a "promotional opp." and then paying a similarly popular male-act 10x more, that is fucked, but they pay their agents to negotiate these things and have the best interest of the band at the crux of all dealings, so, the agent's gotta go if they aren't allowing their clients to be fairly represented.

(lots of dudes in here insisting on having the last word instead of actively listening to women… sigh.)

This is one of the worst threads I have read on this site in terms of how utterly brainless and pointless the arguing is.

Plus, all this talk of "cool" and "real" bands is giving my flashbacks of the AP forums and some of the weird dudes that kept me from posting outside of the news posts.

Doesn't seem like anyone is insisting on having the last word. Also, how are you assuming that no one is actively listening? The basic tenants of a discussion include active listening and response.

Haven't listened to it outside of the first single that got a little radio play...they were just boring, a good portion of the crowd left halfway through the set to go see Tash Sultana.

Well to each their own but I heard great reviews from my friends their and I’ve certainly never seen them put on a bad show.

That's too bad, After Laughter may be my favorite Paramore album… just my two cents.

It doesn’t matter how you think you apply the word irrational. Perceived irrationality has been used for decades to delegitimize women and lock them away in asylums and it’s still used today to discredit women in discussions. In a discussion about misogyny, using the word irrational reads a particular way and I’m skeptical of anyone who claims not to realize that.

Sometimes the goal isn’t discussion. Sometimes, certain people should just shut up and listen. This is one of those times.

Y'all went wild today. On a sidenote maybe i was just ignorant to certain users on AP and for that I apologize, but Chorus seems to have more women who feel free to speak up even tho they have to say the same thing constantly so props for them. You all rock even if ur industry plants

Misogyny isn’t always explicit, sometimes it’s obvious for when the same story DOES come out for an all guy band and the conversation is drastically different. I’m not talking specifically about just you, or this thread, but this has been a pretty reoccurring experience as a fan and participant in the music scene.

    1) It doesn't matter how I think I apply the word irrational? I applied it to a news story because I felt the response was irrational, never made it about gender. As I stated again and again, I would have made the same comments regardless of whatever gender the act identified as.

    2) The goal of a comment section/forum is not discussion?

    3) And, yes there are those times when one should shut up and listen. This isn't one of them.

Buddy you’re not listening. You didn’t just apply it to a news story, you applied to a response...women’s responses.

I’m not gonna waste any more of my time trying to make you understand, I just want you to know that based on your posts in this thread, you’re not fully grasping what people have been trying to explain to you. That’s what makes this one of the times where you need to talk less and listen more.

For sure! I think in the next presidential debate (should we all even make it to that point) they should take breaks to rank The Fueled By Ramen catalog. That would make for some excellent post-commentary.
