Haim have canceled their upcoming European tour after reaching a “critical point” in their recording process. we are so sorry to announce we will not be coming to Europe this summer pic.twitter.com/ca9uWlOuj9 — HAIM (@HAIMtheband) July 20, 2016 Expand - View Original
That's really shitty. I'm not sure which part of recording is so critical that they can't put it on pause to tour. Cancelling shows is the last thing any band should want to do and it leaves a really bad taste in fans mouths regardless of the reason, and I think they could've done a better job at explaining why a cancellation was necessary. Even a postponement would've been better. I get that's not really feasible for festivals, but a band of their size I think could've set up a European tour fairly quickly and announce that while simultaneously announcing the cancellations. Being in a band revolves around touring. It's the art of performing, your bread and butter and it keeps the fanbase thriving. A cancellation really shouldn't be taken lightly and I feel like there were either other factors at hand here or this is just a bad business decision.
