I've never discussed my views with my parents, but given my personality it likely wouldn't surprise them. My sister is outspoken about her hate for religion/church. My mom doesnt care and I just sort of daydream during mass, the one time a year I have to go a year. My dad doesn't even go to church like every weekend, maybe once a month.

My dad told me as recently as a month ago not to say, “Oh god,” in his presence and that he didn’t think I was the kind of person to do that. I really love him but the blind spots he has are super difficult to deal with.

Related to using the lords name in vain, I used to never swear in front of my parents but given how often I do in everyday use with friends and at work it starts to bleed into when i talk to them.

The last few years I started being brave enough to say like hell or damn, but nothing beyond that intentionally. I have said shit and was like oh god they're gonna get mad even though im an adult but i still feel under their thumb.

 

My filter is impeccable. I mean not for being awkward of course, but profanity-wise it’s like a steel trap.
