I’ve wanted to write something about memes and how they’ve evolved for a while now. Children of Men is a fucking masterpiece

 

I was just about to mention the Exorcist thing. I feel bad for a lot of women in horror movies and the actresses that play them. Like Laurie Strode is a great character but sadly she’s been tainted by all the remakes and weird plot contrivances. JoBeth Williams did a great job as Diane Freeling in Poltergeist and so perfectly portrays a mother desperately trying to save her daughter but sadly she’s mostly remembered for a small part of the film where she’s in her underwear. Jeff Goldblum is fantastic in The Fly but Geena Davis does an incredible job and sadly she gets overlooked, hell ive seen a lot of people who think Goldblums character is the one that says “be afraid, be very afraid”.

I guess it stems off the damsel in distress trope coupled with the overall toxic view of women in Hollywood but it’s interesting that in horrors case a lot of times it’s more the audience than the filmmakers that are causing these things to happen
