It’s kind of chicken or the egg in my memory at this point, but I watched so many experimental films at the same time that I got into his stuff and it just kept feeding into more and more cyclical recommendations and I found so many incredible things.

 

oh man. you're in for a wild ride with that one. it's one of my favorites. Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive are his best films imo but I love all of them

The Mel Brooks/Lynch connection makes my heart happy constantly.

 

Mulholland Drive is one of my all time favorites

 

Inland is probably the most Lynchian of all of them. so much weird surrealism in that one but it never really connected with me like some of the others. still a fantastic film tho

 

Inland Empire messed me up. I watched that way too early in my life and late at night.

 

I was standing waiting for an elevator and someone else was too but I didn't want to be on the elevator with another person so I stood waiting for the next one but then she held the door and awkwardly asked if I was going down and I muttered "yeah, I guess"

Mel seeing Eraserhead and then thinking 'this is the guy we need to direct The Elephant Man' is such a great story

 

I'm drawn to it having Laura Dern in it more than anything. I'll get to it in time.

That movie made me a Laura Dern fan. I didn’t grow up with Jurassic Park so it was the first time I was conscious of how amazing she is.

 

should have just said no going up and then when the door closed hit the down button again and then melted into an awkward puddle when the door opened back up and she was still standing there
