People are giving our gen a lot of shit like "kids these days never go outside" / "parents just hand their kids a tablet and don't do any actual parenting" / etc but I see so much that 100% counters that and shows that our kids consumption is so much more ethical and better for them than ours was

 

I spent plenty of time outside, grew up with lots of neighbor kids, was always biking around, playing tag or basketball and getting into things. But I also somehow had time for obscene amounts of tv and internet and that's probably cause my parents never enforced a bedtime

EDIT: Or monitored my viewing habits/internet usage. Honestly some shit I ran into online was so inappropriate but then again my parents didn't even help me find a college so they were otherwise occupied I guess! xD

 

I honestly don’t know!! Only because of the addition of youtube which has no standards for children’s programming and really aren’t pedaling life lessons and stuff

That's true the YouTube aspect does counter that pretty strongly. I see a lot more educational TV out there for kids than the garbage (albeit good garbage) we consumed though and see a lot more concern from parents towards what's being watched I guess?

also yeah I have always said that I’m really grateful for the sweet spot that I grew up in, but I feel like even a few years either way throws it off

for me, I got to have a normal childhood and preteen life of hanging out outside and doing all the irl things but then also having an online life starting in like middle school but it didn’t take over the way technology has now. I think people my age had the best of both worlds and I feel lucky for that

 

I wasted my youth playing basketball/football/skateboarding. I eventually was able to dunk a basketball and do big spin heels. Now I can't anymore
