There is only one gulfer sadly you can actually hear some of those influences in the singers other band Stevenson, but they are a lot less mathy/twinkly and more just indie-rock
Yeah i like the songwriting of this a lot but feel like their vocals and production got significantly worse since their last record. Maybe its just me idk
vocals were the first thing that drew me into this record. when i heard the shouting on Secret Stuff, i knew i was gonna fuckin love this album
I think the vocals sound pretty good here.. s little shouty/raspy at times but for the most part the pitches are there
Its the punch of the vocals that are missing. Previous production felt glossier and really elevated the raspy delivery of the vocals if that makes sense. I dont mind shouting vox, but on this album, it lands just short of that and is like this half-sung half-yell
In my opinion his voice is pretty par for the course in this genre but to each their own. I can't recall any of these type of bands having what you'd call a "classically good" vocalist but they all seem to share a certain quality that for me just kind of fits with this style.
