I finally found a pretty good deal on a Big Sky a couple weeks ago and rearranged my board to fit it in. Definitely my favorite gear purchase in a long time. Feels like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what it can do.
I clicked on this half expecting it to be a shoegaze thread but am not disappointed - you guys have some awesome stuff
yeah it seems like a fairly easy build, i might pick up a beano boost kit to see about doing one of my own as well
I had one of those on my radar as well. Want to do 1-2 builds, but I know I'll buy the parts and never get around to it haha. Think I'll be picking up a RV-6 this weekend. Need a good reverb pedal and it seems to have the most options for what I'm looking for. Also, may bite the bullet on a Fuzz War, though I think I'll play one at the shop near me first..there's a clone on Ebay that is tempting me.
RV-6s are excellent value and have some brilliant sounds. Got that as my standard reverb and the Dark World as my dumb shit one.
I looked into these. Why are you selling? How much? If I remember correctly, it doesn't have quite the reverb options as a RV-6 or Polara, or am I thinking of a different reverb/delay pedal... Good to hear! I found a decent deal on one and I hate over thinking these.
Honestly, at that price, it’s the best out there in my opinion. Can’t go wrong. You could pay a lot more for a lot less.
it's more specific and geared towards ambient stuff, for sure. honestly, it's just a big platform and takes up a little too much space on my board, which is small haha. it has a "modulated" reverb, which brings in a bit of fender style tremolo, a standard spring reverb, and a shimmer reverb, which brings in and octave above in the trails
Awesome! Yeah, the real estate is what concerns me with it haha. A little too big. I am also in love the Obscura, so the delay portion isn't too interesting. Do you know what you're replacing it with yet?
Yeah, plus the RV-6 does delay too if you fancy tinkering with it on another device (maybe set up two delays) or whatever. Ambient devices that combine both are fantastic but limited in use if you’re after a stand-alone reverb with more features and functionality. It has like...7 reverbs and a delay, all with trails and expression pedal functionality, as well as stereo ins and outs if you’re running a two amp setup.
Anybody here have the swollen pickle fuzz? I've been eyeing it for a while. Just need someone to confirm and push me over the top to snag it.
Overall I’m a fan of its range but have never had much of a use for fuzz. I will say though that it has a few internal trim pots that Way Huge tries to market as “customizable” but really it’s just a giant pain in the ass when you have to unscrew the bottom of the pedal every time you want to adjust your tone
This is my board, I’ve got like 5 other pedals that I’ll switch out occasionally but this is basically the mainstay. I don’t play shows super often anymore but I do run through these when recording The one the top right is a little blocked by the big ass knobs lol but it’s a Fulltone Supa-Trem
Always feel like I’ll end up picking up a Carbon Copy at some point because I love dark delays! How’d you like that bad boy? The big version not tempt you?
I absolutely love that thing, it was my first FX box ever actually! Bought in ‘09 and it’s done the trick ever since. I’ve swapped it out for the Flashback and the DD-7, both were fine but I came running back to this each time. With only three parameters it’s super easy to use but comes with enough range to get whatever style of delay you’re looking for. Used the hell out of the modulation button before I picked up a chorus pedal too — it’s pretty rich for what it is and you can actually use it whether or not the delay is activated! The big boi sure is tempting though. I think at this point if I were to switch out, I’d opt for that. Had my eyes set on a DL4 or Nova Delay once upon a time but I’m pretty much married to analog at this point haha
Bought a Fuzz War clone off ebay. Guy has great reviews, couldn't say no to the price. Guess we'll see when it shows up in November, haha.
i also ran a treble booster in front of it, but yeah, it's by far my favorite fuzz pedal i've ever owned
I ended up snagging a smallsound/bigsound mini last night from Chicago Music Exchange. They had it 15% off, couldn't resist. I think I'm done purchasing new ones for now and am going to build my actual board and so on haha
