ive been flirting w the idea of maybe thinking about getting a new axe ha. ive got a rule tho that i dont buy guitars unless i can try them out myself first. are guitar shops even letting customers try out equipment like that?
So here we have a Sam ash and a guitar center and they let you try it out for 5 minutes. You can’t grab anything yourself. But if it’s anything like here, good luck actually finding anything to try. It looked like both stores were going out of business. Completely empty walls and cases
jesus christ not what the guitar industry needs rn thats depressing. we got a guitar center and sam ash here too plus a couple georges music.
Yeah Guitar Center almost filed for bankruptcy a month ago, private equity vultures basically bled it dry over the years. Really just delaying the inevitable, but it's the dominant retailer in music instruments so it'll probably survive in some form
So I know here in Texas right now they are giving you a ridiculous amount of money if you’re on unemployment. I was unemployed for a little bit when this started and I made about $1000 more per two weeks than what the job I actually have now pays. People are looking for things to spend this extra income on. So I think they probably had their stuff sell out faster than they can replenish. When I went there was still a line of people trying to get in. There just wasn’t anything for them to buy.
I've seen a lot of people repainting or rehousing them if you'd rather not get rid of it. Selling it and donating the funds to a relevant charity also seems popular among those who are getting rid of them right now.
Yeah sell it on and get a better pedal from a better company. Folk do seem to be buying them / trading them with the express intent of customising the already shit ‘artwork’ as it is.
am I crazy or have used music gear prices skyrocketed I don’t see any music store Fourth of July sales either
Yeah. I’m just thinking it’s to do with limited availability. Though even prior to this I noticed people flipping things have started to completely take the piss.
Anybody have any good links or personal knowledge on the differences in fender models? I understand the difference between the eras but looking to her more of a breakdown on Princeton vs deluxe vs superluxe etc. Also, at a more generic level I'm trying to understand what affects headroom and how to strike a good balance between a nice clean tone but also getting some natural crunch if I really wanted to. I'm not a huge pedals guy... I have an overdrive and fuzz but use them sparingly... currently rocking a vox AC15 thinking about switching it up.
I’m thinking about getting another Fender. I have a telecaster already and a custom built telecaster, but I’m interested in the a Jaguar. My main axe right now is a Rickenbacker 360 that’s run through a Vox AC30. I love my Rick, but I’ve been toying with the idea of having another completely different guitar for different songs to get a different tone and such. Anyone have a Jag? What are your thoughts on them?
I’ve found that a lot of the time, Hot Rod Deluxes are the ones hyped for taking pedals and being the most well-rounded out of those, so I figure if ever you did get more into them there’s always that. Deluxe Reverbs are wonderfully clean. Like holy shit. And as far as I’m aware, they’ve got huge headroom, which’d take your drives quite well. Can’t speak for the Princeton, but I’ve heard the Superluxe (Vibrolux?) can also get insanely loud. I mean, they all can, but that’s all I’ve heard about it. I’ve got a Blues Junior III - the Hot Rod Deluxe is like the beefed up version of that. I’ve played both and I think they’re bloody brilliant. If you’re a cleans guy you can’t go wrong there either, but for the ULTRA pristine high headroom amp - Deluxe Reverb every time. You won’t beat it for that. Plus I’m pretty sure all of the amps have a sexy spring reverb tank.
maybe refresh? reverb tends to have shops say that if the loading times out. there are 8 active listings.
I built a pedalboard out of some old wooden shelves the other day. It's a hot mess haha. Still need to add power but it seems like it'll work fine for me.
That doesn’t look like quite what I’m looking for, but it does seem cool! Reading up on the rest of what you’re selling rn
