Most of this team will not be seen in future MCU films, so we won’t have to worry about them without dialogue from Gunn.

I find that awfully hard to believe, unless Vol. 3 is going to have a really high body count.

I must now go to the source Supporter

Rumor has it (rumor) that while there could be a major death of at least one character, the rest of the team will splinter off at the end and a new Guardians team will form in its wake.
Purely speculation from all those speculative sources that traffic in speculating…

That’s what I’ve heard as well as a leak from last February as to who will be in it.

If they aren't dead, we'll see them again. I guarantee.

I’m pretty sure Bautista is done and is far ready to move on.

Probably, but I'd like to think he'd return for the right script. But he was pretty adamant about only being involved if Gunn was involved, so we'll see, I guess.

I think he’ll do some DC films if he ever returns to comic books. Maybe he’ll talk Gunn into letting him be Bane.

I don’t think anyone able who “joined the MCU” from Avengers on is 100% guaranteed to never, under any circumstances return. But, I do think Dave Bautista is one of the least likely (outside of maybe a cameo).

He’s very earnest about his career and relationships, and has ended up working with Denis Villeneuve (more than once), Zack Snyder, Rian Johnson, and M. Night Shyamalan. Plus, he’s in his 50s and only really got going in the past decade. Another film as Drax the Destroyer seems like a very low priority, and rightfully so!

…I genuinely don’t know at a glance which one you’re talking about. They’re all pretty different.

My choice is between M. Night and Snyder.

I thought you were going for a "visionary directors" sort of vibe which gave it a bit of "my friends... and Zoidberg" energy.

EDIT: But I suppose Shyamalan has won an Oscar, so that's more than I've ever done.

Whether you like those filmmakers or not, they are all undeniable auteurs at this point - sometimes doing franchise stuff, sometimes not.

Shamalyan and Snyder have both made movies I really hate, but they have a thing that they do that can be identified as unique

I feel like “visionary director” is probably said in marketing more often than any other place, so I wouldn’t split hairs on what it means. Or, frankly, use it myself outside of tongue-in-cheek.

The reason I went with those four directors is that they’re all filmmakers with pretty distinct approaches, as understandably polarizing as two of ‘em are. Depending on your definition of “auteur,” I think they all probably qualify. And, I’m happy for Bautista, getting to work with all of them, plus three-and-a-half James Gunn flicks. I hope he keeps getting chances to try different things.

I didn't mean to spark a discourse lol, was just making a dumb joke. I agree I think Bautista is probably in a great place right now.
