Holiday Special was really dumb, but also fun. Probably won’t watch it again, but enjoyed it enough.

 

Pom was definitely the star of this one. annoyed how little Karen Gillan got to do after being the best part of Vol 1&2, but she did get literally my only outright laugh with the "guess they're not all pieces of shit" line, great delivery. Rocket and Groot were present I suppose

Bautista just feels checked out. that's not a criticism of him really, I would be too if I'd worked with Villeneuve and turned out to be a legitimately good actor but still had to stick with playing Drax. but man so much of this goes to Bautista for the laugh line and they almost all totally miss the mark, it's honestly a rough watch at times

and then Chris Pratt remains my least favourite leading actor a franchise has tried to sell me as good since like Sam Worthington. his comic delivery is fine, but every time this franchise goes to him for the Serious Acting he just absolutely whiffs it, it's very notable here because pretty much all he does is look sad and yell stuff. the big Mantis/Quill scene works entirely because Pom sells it - she's fucking hilarious in this but really hits you with the empathy in that scene and it just really works

 

Drax hasn't been funny since the first Guardians movie

 

The holiday special was great

I guess all actors aren’t pieces of shit

 

And we got to see Cosmo!

 

Drax is usually funny but it’s best when he is unintentionally funny and just doesn’t understand how to properly behave.

 

The special was nice. I love the dynamic between Drax and Mantis

 

This was dumb and bad and you could obviously tell who had time to film and who didn’t. Like why even make this honestly?

 

It was cute. Definitely didn't really need to exist and a decent amount of jokes missed for me, and I doubt I'll ever watch it again, but it was enjoyable enough for the 45 minutes it was on. Kids will love it

 

Uh oh, the fun haters have logged on! I thought it was a lovely little one off that made me smile a lot. Wasn’t trying to more than that. Just a really nice watch.

 

It was ok but wow does Chris Pratt truly have nothing behind his eyes anymore

 

Bautista wearing shirts def felt like this is just Disney+ money, you can make up the head and arms and that's it lol


If he had his shirt off and I missed it, forgive me I fell asleep for like 15 minutes in the middle. Then I woke up to Kevin Bacon singing that terrible song. I guess that's my review lol

 

It's weird that the train of thought is "Drax is wearing shirts, must be the lower budget" and not literally anything else, like maybe Bautista being tired of having his shirt off all the time.

 

Feels like both tbh

 

Also repeatedly saying Kevin Bacon was the "screaming goats" of this thing: easily the funniest thing about it, borderline the only funny thing about it, and also piledrived the joke completely into the ground

 

It felt like a bonus chapter that would be at the end of a comic. Which was nice

 

That is definitely a better way of framing this

In the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we see that there is a failsafe in Buckey’s arm to disable and remove it.

But sure, go off, I guess:

 

I loved the part where Bacon recites his monologue from JFK "you a goddamn liberal Mr. Groot, you don't know shit because you've never been fucked in the ass!"

 

Hard to call it forced inclusion when it literally happens off screen

 

Is it just me or was Groot a guy in a costume and not CGI?

 

Special was worth it for more Mantis and Rocket getting the gift from Nebula.
