Welp. The trailer footage shown to the crowd explained it here: "Ego (Kurt Russell’s character) is revealed as Star-Lord’s father. Explaining that, before Peter Quill was born, he took human form and met Quill’s mother. Drax questions if Ego’s human form includes a penis, to which Ego replies: 'Yes, Drax. I do have a penis. A pretty good one too.'" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That.....is certainly not what I was expecting. I wonder what Gunn's reasoning for changing Quill's father to Ego the goddamn Living Planet. Russel would have made an absolutely conniving J'son of Spartax.
Gunn said it threw the Marvel head honchos off too when he proposed Ego to be Quill's father. Hey, if it provides a much richer antagonist than we've seen in most of the Marvel movies, I'm all for it. Gunn said part of the main conflict for Quill in this will be who he feels to be his "true" father between Ego and Yondu. Could provide some heart to the story again.
Asked by a fan if a "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" is in the works, Gunn replied on his Facebook page, "There are no real plans, and I haven't made up my mind yet what I'm doing next." Additionally the fan asked Gunn what it's like to work with star Chris Pratt -- to which he replied, "Chris is one of my closes friends in the world, and I love working with him."
Yeah I meant more like a specific rip like it's almost identical. Rocket to Russia was what first came to mind. Edit: Looks like Gunn confirmed he did draw inspiration from Rocket to Russia and such for the poster and it is not a direct rip.
I think this is probably what ends up playing in front of Doctor Strange. We probably won't see a full trailer until Logan is released in March.
You seriously think a Marvel movie won't get a full trailer until 2 months before the movie? That's cute.
