It's getting there. I remember getting the leak of the single and playing it on repeat for nearly a week. It works so perfectly in the context of the album too.
The last minute of Neighbors is insane. Losing All Sense has one of my favorite moments with Ed, when he sings "move too fast, here we are, can't let go" oh mann just perfect.
Man, this still just keeps getting better and better. Left it aside for a few days since I got the War on Drugs album but came back to it twice today and it still floors me.
Nice. I remember them saying how Three Rings is a good representation of their new album and now after hearing everything it truly does. It captures the magic
Only song I can't get into on this is four cypresses. Something about the melody actually annoys me. Not sure what tho
I agree "Four Cypresses" just doesn't work for me. Lyrically or sonically. The album tends to rely a lot on waltzy type rhythms and this is the one that I don't care for.
I'll put Four Cypresses on the bottom tier. I initially didn't like Mourning Sound much, but it works so well in the context of the album.
This is what stood out the most to me through my first few listens. Their dynamic here is great. This has become my default for when I can't think of something to listen too. It's a very nice, warm record. Maybe the best sounding album i've heard so far this year.
This is really cool Moonlight Director Barry Jenkins Releases Chopped & Screwed Grizzly Bear Album: Listen | Pitchfork
I haven’t spent enough time with this. Maybe the cold weather will get it back in my rotation. I expected this, the national, fleet foxes, father John to hit me harder. All have been OK for me so far
Really? I love all those records except for The National. Painted Ruins probably gonna be my AOTY or at least a top three. Definitely spend more time with it!
I haven’t listened to The National, but Pure Comedy grew on me a whole lot after some time and especially after seeing him live. Crack Up was great live but I haven’t really clicked with it all that much either tbh. This Grizzly Bear album? I honestly think it’s pretty bad. There are three songs I love, the rest I’m very mehhhh on, and Mourning Sound actively pisses me off. One of the bigger disappointments for me. Edit: the new Godspeed was a big disappointment too
Oh wow. Personally I can’t get enough of it. This and broken social scene are probably my AOTY so far.
