All about the new song. I'm well versed in their last ep and full length but have taken the time to go back to Empty Black and spend time with it. It rules. I went all the way back to Cult America yesterday and was surprised by it and how Letlive-y it got at certain moments. Definitely not as refined as their most recent stuff but still worthwhile.
Not huge on cult America tbh. Its fine, but the following two albums and stereo grief absolutely blow it out of the water
I’ve never actually heard that one despite loving this band. I always just assumed it was either much different or much worse
Parts of it are weird. On Gran Torino, he literally sounds like he is trying to do an Anthony Kiedis thing on vocals and the song mentions California so maybe it's meant to be silly idk
Yeah like I said I don’t think it’s bad but it simply doesn’t compare. He isn’t really developed at all vocally. The letlive comparison is kind of apt because it reminds me of their pre-fake history material
I never really gave it a fair shake but didn't feel like the songs that have come up from it when I'm listening to a mix have been that memorable. The other 2 albums and ep though? No skips for me.
They’re pretty much my favorite band of the current wave of metalcore/post hardcore that’s popping off. And that’s saying something because I fucking love all those bands
Yea Cult America is still cool but they definitely eclipsed it with every release after Song is great, super excited for the album
