I’ve never had an issue with his voice. It’s what drew me into the band, honestly.

 

album is huge and crushing and i love how "you're gonna hate what you've done" feels like an album closer right in the middle of the album

 

Every time I listen to this album, I think a different song stands out as the best.

 

same besides entertainment. that song just fucking destroys me every time i hear it. will always be my fav but the rest is basically just as good.

so i listened to this in full last night. the one dude’s vocals aren’t growing on me but the tones are impossible to ignore

 

Random but the line in "Entertainment," And shiver while the factory flames/Dance like specters by the highway, is just such a good example of imagery and sets the tone of that song immediately for me. Night drive music.

 

Maybe try focusing on his lyrics and see if that helps? The writing on this record is bleak, but crazy good. Was it any less distracting on "Entertainment?"

 

Strain is the only song I skip really but even then it’s not a bad song at all. Extremely easily listenable record for having two 9 minute songs

 

it definitely does. part of it is just really liking the other dude’s voice. i tend to have that problem with most bands that split duties though.

 

Maybe this should be obvious, but which voice do people not like? (I don’t know their names well enough to distinguish.) I’ve always enjoyed the balance between the two. Gives them even more dynamics.

Really? That's my favorite song on here haha. The length of it never bothers me.

 

It’s just not the best nearly 10 minute song on that record

On any day I could probably find one song hitting different over another. It's just that good.

My gf and I were just saying that the other day, this album feels so much like this moment. Heavy.

I think I finally get these guys

 

My girlfriend got a tattoo this past weekend incorporating the artwork from New Hell. She had always wanted to get a record player tat, and after showing her the album last year and it becoming one of her favorites ever (hit us both pretty hard emotionally, really is something special), she decided she wanted New Hell to be the record that is playing on the record player in the tat. We thought the artist would just draw up something simple, but once he saw the artwork itself he was really excited about it, asked her to bring our copy in, and even listened to the whole thing himself before he did the tattoo. Then, he really went bigger with the idea and decided he wanted to wrap the album artwork around the record player, making it a much bigger piece. I'm just gonna say it looks SO SICK. She needs two more sessions to finish it, but we're fucking thrilled by how cool it looks and how great her artist is for really going above and beyond what we expected.

Right now it's mostly line work and looks kinda sketchy, which he left like that intentionally because he wants there to be a blur effect from the record player into the artwork itself; she goes back on September 9 to finish the record player part and some shading.

 

That’s awesome. This really is a special record.
