I played a few personal highlights from the trilogy yesterday and I was amazed at how many words I remembered mostly because I was so young when they came out and didn't know I could spend my time listening to better music. Guitar solo in "Oh Love" kinda rips though and "X-Kid" is still solid.
So I saw this on the Green Day Reddit yesterday. They asked, if you were in charge and could choose what songs Green Day play at a concert, what would you choose? You can pick up to 30 songs. Not sure why someone would go shorter, but it’s an option, I guess. Just no more than 30. Really no limits as to what you could pick beyond that. Anything from their discography, b-sides, cover songs, whatever you desire. these are the 30 I picked. But I wouldn’t have them play these in this order. I just picked songs as I went through their albums. Going to Pasalacqua Paper Lanterns Disappearing Boy 80 Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? I don’t think I even know 30 Green Day songs. If they did all of Dookie, all of FOAM, and the Godzilla remix of “Brain Stew” I’d be more than happy.

It’s been a freakin minute since I listened to Kerplunk but there is seriously some great stuff on here. Re-remembering how much I love Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?
Nah, I like those records just fine, but I don’t like them enough to hear any of those songs over most of those from Dookie onward. I wouldn’t be upset hearing a bunch of them, just not a part of my ideal set list.
Kerplunk is a fantastic album. I'd love to hear that one live in its entirety to be completely honest. I just listened to Revolution Radio for the first time in a little while and it is still a great listen, I know not everyone agrees but it still holds a special place in my heart. My real hot take is that while I love 21stCBD, I'd rather listen to RR because it is a much less exhausting listen. 21st leaves me a little fatigued by the end, though I enjoy it every time.
I don’t think that’s really a hot take. I like RR much more than 21CB. I enjoy the latter, but I don’t think it’s close to top tier Green Day.
I will absolutely state that I'm very happy I got to see then on the 21CB tour and even though they've always been a great live band (still are, just wish they changed up the set list more) I feel like that was when they were at the top of their game as a live unit.
I don’t think about either very often tbh. They’re not offensive to me but I don’t come back to either almost at all

Better chance of me getting through Rev Rad front to back. No chance of that with 21CB, even if the best songs are probably on that one. Really my main criteria, amount of skippage
Yea, RevRad is a much more enjoyable album than 21CBD. I don’t hate 21CBD, but it’s way too long. A lot of the songs feel bloated. There’s 17 actual songs at like an hour 10 minutes. Where you get Nimrod with 18 actual songs and just under 50 minutes. 20 minutes with an album context is a large amount of time. The highs of 21CBD just don’t carry it to being one of the greats. senior year high school me would go insane with this set. Although, I’d swap out Misery for another banger instead. oh, and post 2004 is such a roller coaster of quality. You should definitely at least check out 21st Century Breakdown and Revolution Radio
Also 21CB does not stick its landing well, at all. the final two songs sound like a big finale but they have absolutely nothing to say, so they don't stick in the brain and just add an extra 10 minutes to the album
