that’d be cool. They’d have to record renditions of Deadbeat Holiday, Misery, Fashion Victim, and Hold On though. I can’t find proof that Hold On or Misery were ever played live in full. Hold On reportedly was partially played at one show and a few lines was played by Billie Joe during a performance of the AI musical. Misery has only been played during a soundcheck. Setlist.fm claims they were played once. Fashion Victim is claimed to have been played 3 times, but the only recording you can find is a poor bootleg from 2001, I think. Deadbeat Holiday was allegedly played once, but it’s not even on setlist.fm. all the other songs were played often and they probably do have solid recordings of them. Just double checked and the only other song that’s rare is Jackass but they played it on Fuse so it’s possible they have a good recording of that too. why would they make all the lyrics bad?
It would be cool to hear a song or two redone, but Warning is pretty much perfect as is, so I don’t want a whole new version of that record.
I would be cool with them doing a live version of warning. I always enjoy when bands do shows of that sort and then release them as live albums. However, yeah, Warning sounds great as is.
The technology just wasn't there before FOAM. It's time to make them how the artist originally envisioned them.
It’s an Insomniac kind of day. Probably their most underappreciated album from me, if I’m being honest.
Dookie is my favorite. Then there’s a massive battle between Isnomniac, Nimrod, Warning, and American Idiot for the next spots that changes based on my mood, the time of year, which way the wind is blowing, if I’ve recently eaten, if I’m drunk, and so on.
Insomniac is my clear #1. Dookie, nimrod, rev radio is the next tier Warning, idiot, 21sr 2nd tier. I appreciate kerplunk and 1039 but its still a work in progress. 123 as one album would be "ok" and foam still gets worse on every listen
I feel like Insomniac is definitely their most no-frills and straight to the point album. They have their foot to gas pedal the whole time.
Favorite song by any Green Day side band? For me, it would probably be Pinhead Gunpowder's 2nd Street.
Interesting to see RevRad so high up on anybody's list! I love a lot of the songs on that record but there's some filler that really drags it down as a full album piece, IMHO. And the tracks kinda feel thematically all over the place. If you trimmed the fat and released it as two EPs, I think the songs themselves would really pop a bit more. I've fucked around with it a bit and found these sequences really work well in terms of the "story" they're trying to tell. (And would be curious to hear if you think any of what I just said makes sense because I've tried to articulate it before and failed. LOL) 1.) Somewhere Now 2.) Too Dumb To Die 3.) Youngblood 4.) Still Breathing 5.) Forever Now 1.) Bang Bang 2.) Revolution Radio 3.) Bouncing Off The Wall 4.) Troubled Times
But that song still makes me want to bang my head against a wall. As a kid I used to go HARD on our trampoline to that song. Specifically the Godzilla remix. So epic.
I really wish there was a version of that remix without the Godzilla screams. That shit is so cringe, but literally everything else about that remix is fantastic.
I mean, you do you. But the song is clearly a purposeful slowdown for the album. The slowest song segueing into the fastest song is a cool idea and it’s so simple but so effectively done here. But You can desire self inflicted pain with any song I guess.
If I had to rank ... currently ... Nimrod Warning American Idiot Dookie Rev Rad Insomniac 21 Century Kerplunk 1039 Fart Sounds Recorded to Tape Trilogy FOAM
Nimrod Warning Dookie Insomniac American Idiot Rev Radio 21CB Kerplunk 1039 Trilogy The sound of my shit hitting the water FOAM
Honestly as long as the trilogy and FOAM are on the bottom I’m cool with however people rank the rest.
